Crowdsourcing to figure out what months our VINs were created

Ok, it looks like we have to use the date that people receive their VIN as the baseline. That makes a lot of sense, but we'll rely on at least one person getting their VIN within a few days for any of this to be relatively accurate.

I've updated the original post to specify that we need to know when the VIN was received. Hopefully we'll always have people receiving them within a day or two of their order.

There is definitely going to be some “fudge-factor” with this method, or any method really. My sales guy didn’t automatically send me my POC and VIN. I had to contact him to get it. Order was placed 22-July, I reached out on 01-Aug so my VIN was assigned within that time period though in my case I think it’s a safe assumption that the VIN was assigned by Jeep in July.

My order was placed on July 13th. I checked on the 28th and there was no VIN yet, but I had to stop by the dealer on July 30th and we looked it up and it was there. It was likely assigned sometime after mid day on the 28th or on the 29th.

Since most people aren't able to check it every day, it's not likely that anyone will actually know exactly when their VINs are assigned.

I should have mentioned that mine was rolled from a 2022 that I ordered 4/20 and they switched it to a 2023 at midnight on 6/9. It wasn’t an actual 6/9 order so maybe it given an earlier VIN for that reason.

That is interesting on the rolling of the order to a 2023. I wonder how and when the decided to do that? Curious because I have a 2022 order I am waiting on that I placed in April as well.

I really don’t know, but the dealership didn’t do it because the time of the order, when it is placed by the dealer, is specific down to the minute and when Jeep flipped it to a 2023, it happened at exactly midnight.

To develop a better understanding of what's being built each month we need to know what VINs were created each month. @dahacker did a statistical analysis and came up with these approximates for the early months. We're building on his concept so we can generate build reports by week and month that somewhat accurately reflect reality.

I've received sequence numbers (the last 6 digits of your VIN) from a few people and have plugged those in where appropriate.

If the date that you received your VIN is on or near the start day or end day of a month and it's more accurate than what's in this table then please post here with your VIN's sequence number and that date.

It is built, and I do have a build sheet and window sticker. Right now it is in shipped status. Estimated delivery of 9/5/22.

Mine was ordered 08/01 confirmed 08/02, and got VIN 539464 a few days later when I checked with my dealer. the VIN isn't on the tracker yet though since i'm status D still.
