So a few days ago after going topless doorless and having a blast with the family after putting the Jeep back together I was working and noticed a flexing noise from the drivers side. It really sounded like it was coming from the soft top.
I search everywhere and couldn't find it. Then I figured out it was coming from the door. I took the door back off and greased the hinge area. Still didn't help. That evening I spent some time seriously pin pointing the noise to the lower hinge area and the door catch stopper thing.
If the stopped the disconnected the noise goes away. But no where on or near the stopper can you feel the creaking or noise vibration. So today I had off. Recently my preferred dealer, the incredible service manager doesn't work their anymore. And I really hate going to the dealer. Especially when it comes to trim work. Something else always gets marked up or busted. I carefully removed the door panel and the door seal trim and recorded the following video.
There is some sort of sub frame system inside the door that eventually the door striker is mounted to. The side crash beam inside the door appears to came unglued from the door panel and somewhere in the sub frame pieces this stupid noise is created.
I have no idea where to go from here. Its not something major major or life threatening I think.
