Got my first service today and a quote to remove the tpms from my stock wheels and install them in different wheels and tires that I have. Maybe they misunderstood or something but they came in at 190$ per wheel. That’s 950 in labor. You got to be kidding me.

What should I be paying?

Wow!!! That’s steep... here’s a realistic breakdown

Here are a couple of options

In order to reuse your current sensors you have to get new stems .. the MOPAR stems are about $24.00 a piece

There are aftermarket stems between 7.00 & 12.00 dollars

Breaking down and remounting let’s say 25.00 a tire

You should be between $32.00 - $50.00 a tire total + tax

That would be cost at the dealership I work for

If you need part numbers let me know

Check out Discount Tire co. I had 5 tires dismounted, TPMS moved to new wheels, tires mounted and balanced and put back on vehicle. Cost was $50.00 per wheel. I thought it was reasonable.

My local shop charges only $15 per wheel. Shop around, you'll find a good price.

Discount tire has done it for me multiple times. Swapped out Tpms and mounted balanced tires. They charged $100 total for 5 all five. You don't need any new parts.

You can also buy all 5 sensors on ebay for $50-100. Leave the sensors in your old wheel/tires and sell them as a package. Makes it easier to sell.

The new TPMS sensors that are used in our JL's are only currently available from FCA, and there is no way to program the aftermarket sensor's to the JL system. Been down this road already, but Kaufmann tires locally swapped mine out for me for $15 a tire.

That's not true. I bought sensors from the link I provided above on amazon for $85. They're made by Shrader which is the same manufacturer of OEM. I installed them on new aftermarket wheels and the TPM system registered them within a minute. I didn't have to do anything to get them to work properly.

Not true at all. I sell TPMS on eBay. You can get direct Shrader replacements and the Jeep self learns. You can also get generic TPMS and we got them working now as well. Send a PM if you want one of the links to my ads.

Best to just get new ones as you are paying double labor to remove and install. For that price you can buy a second set and just pay to have them installed which should be about $25 a wheel.

I bought this set. 1/5 did not have a signal. The only one that registers on my JL is the driver front, no matter which wheel is mounted where. I had my local Discount check the sensors, they could barely read the signal from each wheel.

I turned off the TMPS warning with my Tazer.
That sucks. I had Discount Tire check all of mine prior to install. All were good.

I bought a set of wheels and tires from custom offsets. My tpms problem is that it reads the pressures and says their good but it throws in the tpms light. I’ve been emailing back and forth with them but not really getting anywhere. I think I’m gonna need new sensors because the ones they provided aren’t playing nice with the jl. Looking for a link to ones that actually work well
