cooltech tow harness causing dead battery

CoolTe h found that the LED lighting was the issue: there is a "sense" line from the LED assembly back to the BCM that tells the computer that a light has been activated. This signal wakes up the Jeep and it then draws up to 10A for a period of time. CoolTech's solution is to interrupt that signal to prevent the Jeep from waking up.

There is a very long thread on this. Bottom line, if you have factory LED tail lights you need the CoolTech LED light fix kit.

I have the led lights on my 2018 JLU Rubicon (I bought it new) and installed the cooltec harness in 2018(One of the first as it became available) and have never had a battery drain issue or had to use the fix noted above. Guess I got lucky.

2019 JL with LED’s. Installed Cooltec harness that year and have towed many miles, (14 hrs straight on 1 trip). I’ve never had any battery issues, but I have a RVi Towed Battery Charger installed.
