Confession time. At Cool Tech, we have a flashlight fetish. We think others do too. Like many of you, over the years we have purchased, used, and either liked or really disliked a LOT of flashlights!

But, with all of that experience, for the past couple of years, we have had a clear favorite. It is the go-to light in the shop. It is always charged and it is always ready-to-go. There are many LED rechargeable flashlights these days, but when you also look for those that have a super-nice docking station, the field narrows rapidly. Two things about a dock. First, the obvious one in that being a smart-dock, the flashlight is always good-to-go. No more weak, flickering lights from dead batteries! Second, a docking station kind of encourages a discipline that assures that the home of the flashlight is - in the dock!

Seriously, the Nitecore R25 is very, very good flashlight with a LOT of very good reviews and happy users. OK, but how is this relevant to JL owners?

We built a simple and easy-to install mount for the R25. It is a great location and immediately adjacent to the rear cargo 12v port. You can either plug the light right into the port - so it will charge each time the Jeep is on - or you can hard-wire it for a cleaner install.

(The production brackets are finished in a black powdercoat.)

We have a launch special for JL-owners (while supplies last). Our bundle package includes an R25 Flashlight Kit, our JL-specific mounting bracket as shown and an extra Nitecore smart docking station. The idea is that you have one docking station in the Jeep and use the other one at home.

Looks like a pretty nice package, but with all due respect - $109 FOR A FLASHLIGHT?!?!? I get that Jeep owners love to spend tons of cash on any and all upgrades but that seems a little excessive.

@CoolTech Thanks for being a forum sponsor! A sponsor whose participation allows us to have free access to a great resource. Most of us are very appreciative of the sponsorship and of your continued investment in the development of new products for us JL owners.

I can buy a lot of $13 Chinese Cree flashlights for that price. Still on my first one for the last 5 years.

Guys, don’t trash the flashlight. Didn’t your mom ever tell you , “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”?

If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. I appreciate all the sponsors here

1. The flashlight is ridiculously priced
2. Major is right. Mounting location is less than ideal.
3. You can be critical of a product and still appreciate the dynamic that is forum sponsors. One does not negate the other...
4. My mom always said a fool and their $ is easily parted so go figure....

Me too. I’m just glad it hasn’t been raining. My top should arrive Wednesday. Ps. I think the flashlight is way too costly also.

Guys - I get it. This is a higher-end flashlight for sure. It is a very, very popular flashlight and I know that Nitecore sells a ton of them. So, there is a market... and there's also a lot of flashlights that are a whole lot more expensive! I can't control the price of THIS light. You can search high and low on the internet and the price is $99. All that we did is to make a quick, easy mount for the Jeep and bundle the R25 along with an extra dock. It It is a good deal *IF* you like this light.

Regarding mounting & location - say what you want. It is trivial to mount/unmount if you were to remove your hardtop. It's one friggen screw! But the location is also reasonable because of the proximity of the rear power outlet - which is right there. As I mentioned, some may choose to just plug it in to the power outlet - but tapping in to the wires behind the port may make a cleaner install.

If a nice flashlight + dock is not your thing, fine. There's a whole lot of people that would call purchasing a Jeep a stupid, frivolous decision. Doesn't mean they are right.

(Edit, I see Kendall beat me to the punch)

The Nitecore R25 is an 800 Lumen, CREE XP-L HI V3 LED fueled flashlight. It's a beast. It sells for around $100+/- (google it). It's not of the cheap "buy 2 for $15" variety, but more of a true tactical flashlight. Ask an armed forces specialist which they'd choose, and I can assure you they aren't choosing the made in China knockoffs.

Look, everyone's entitled to their opinion. That said, bashing a sponsor and/or their product in their "announcement post," especially for accurately pricing their product, is right up there with posting negative feedback on someone's For Sale post.

They're offering an accurate price for the flashlight plus $10 or so bucks for the mounting plate. There's a market for everything. If you don't like it, or it's mounting location, don't buy it.

Would be more than happy to try it out if you got a free shipping coupon.

People here complaining about price, etc., on a quality product offering by a forum sponsor but they will go out and spend $24.95 on a friggin cheapo, iffy, LED flashlight that matches the color of their JL and has a fruggly logo on it... ;) LOL, go figure.
