Hi all, I pulled off my spare tire today so I could measure the BS and offset. To measure the outer width of the wheel without removing the tire, I cut two 2x2s so that they each sat on the outside lip of the wheel. I then used a laser measuring tool to measure the distance.

The outer width of the wheel is 8 3/4" (7.5" inner). A zero offset for this is 4 3/8"
The backspace is 6 1/8" (measured with a laser tool too)

6 1/8" - (8 3/4" / 2) = 1 3/4" or 44.45mm offset

There ya go.

Useful info when buying aftermarket wheels, to assess impact on track width compared to stock. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you tmakaro, I've been looking for that. I believe those measurements are the same as the JK Rubicon wheels. Sometimes BS is given from the inside of the rim. Using your numbers I get 5.5" from the inside.

8.75 -7.5 = 1.25" Difference between outside and inside
1.25/2 = 0.625" Width of each shoulder
6.125-0.625 = 5.5" Back Spacing to the inside of the rim
As far as I know BS is always measured to the farthest outside point. At least thatā€™s always what Iā€™ve seen with the diagrams showing BS.

You probably do not have the wheel off any more but it woudl be good to know if the BORE changed. Seems to be a crucial value with having to slide over the rear camera.

The old Sahara JK was 71.5mm as far as I can find.

Good question. Iā€™ll pull off a tire later on this afternoon and get that information.

Back spacing, BS, is always measured from the wheel hub mounting surface to the inside, towards the vehicle, diameter of the wheel. The old JK OEM wheelā€™s were 6.2.

It is still a 5x5 bolt pattern, the bore should be the same as the JK wheels. I think the camera has to be taken off to remove the spare. There is a vid about it somewhere.
You just have to take off a stupid plastic lock mechanism that covers the camera. The camera itself stays.

Any BS/offset suggestions for a JLU Rubicon with 2" Mopar lift running Toyo Open Country M/T 38x13.5r18 (Tire actually measures at 37.6") I have a set of 18' Spyderloc wheels but they were going to be for a JK build with a 1 ton axle kit installed. They wont work with a 8x6.5 bold pattern. So I am back in the wheel shopping market.

This is the stock offset correct

44 - -18 = 62mm further out than stock tire. Measuring from the center of the tire tread. This doesnā€™t even factor in that your new tire is wider than the stock one.

my friends off-road shop in San Antonio just did this JL a week ago. The customer wanted a 3.5 inch lift put on and they did a - 44 on this wheel as you can see it fits pretty good.

If you like it then thatā€™s what counts. I was just giving you the non biased math to show how much farther out a -12 offset would be from the stock offset.

I thought it would stick out more than that on a -18. Considering that's a negative 44 doesn't stick out that bad but like you said that's why they make so many different wheels.you could spend weeks and weeks looking at wheels its crazy
