I thought it would stick out more than that on a -18. Considering that's a negative 44 doesn't stick out that bad but like you said that's why they make so many different wheels.you could spend weeks and weeks looking at wheels its crazy
I’ve never heard of a -44 offset before. That’s like 88mm further out than stock. That’s 3.5” further out. :surprised:

Would you guys feel comfortable running a 17x8.5" wheel with an offset of +10mm and 5.2" backspacing?

Guys help me out here. I’m new to this. I bought 33x12.50R20 Firestone tires and
20x10 (-18 offset) Fuel Triton D581 wheels—I love the way it looks...
Nothing rubs, what I am concerned about is the -18 OFFSET. Is this good or bad compared to the stock set up?
Would the -18 offset do any damage to the Jeep’s suspension, would it affect it?

Thank You Gents!!

It’s perfectly fine. They stick out farther than they need to but that sounds like the look you are after.

I would like to know as well. What size tire are you looking at?

Yes that would be great. +18 to +25 range is perfect, but +10 is so close that it'll look great.

This spec will put just a small amount of tire outside the fender flares.

This is all very confusing to me. I like a set of wheels with the following specs, 17x9.5 with a -18 offset and 4.5 back spacing. How do I compare that to the stock rubicon wheel? How far will that stick out?

I hear alot about the -12 offset being more appropriate for the JL but I don't understand what that means.

The stock JL wheel (regardless of trim level) is 44.45mm offset and 6.1" backspace.

So, in your example of a wheel with 4.5" backspace and 9.5" width that will basically be 1.5" farther outside the hub, plus the 2" of added width for a total of 3.5" farther outside the hub. It's going to stick WAY out and look like a skateboard. Not to mention it'll be hell on ball joints, wheel bearings, axle shaft ends, etc.

That's why most guys are running the 8.5" width and positive offsets because they work better with 11.50 and 12.50 width tires, and they maintain most of the tread under the protection of the fenders to prevent paint damage.

What do you mean by a positive offset can you give me example please.

What this guy said. I know some like them to stick out, but I prefer to keep as tight in as the tires/suspension/body will allow.

I had procomp rockwells on my last JK and wanted to go same route on my JL.

They are 0 offset and 4.75 back space.

I believe I can just swap these out and keep my stock KO2’s and not really have much impact correct?

I am running Method MR312’s with a -12 offset and 4.5 BS with 315 KO2’s wrapped around them, I was at first concerned they would stick out to far but they don’t for me, some want them even or even under the fenders but I was going for a semi aggressive look

I just want to say thank you very much for this explanation. These forums are amazing. I totally understand the relationship between the three different specs now.
