Just took a trip to Hidden Falls in Marble Falls, Texas yesterday. We both topped of at the Temple,TX Buc-ees and filled up at the Italy, TX Love's. Followed each other down and back wheeled all day. Both left running most of the time. Similar "build quality". I had 1 adult and 2 kid passengers and he was solo. Obviously transmission difference plays a big part, but I didn't expect this big of a gap.

My JK with 35 all terrains and a 2 1/2 inch lift was a pig compared to my diesel with 37 inch mud trains and a 3 1/2 inch left. I get 50 to 75% better mileage depending on the type of driving

Plus you have a roof-rack which is notorious for killing MPG!

The gap will get bigger the more you both mod! If you lets say went 37s or 38s and he did too, the gap will be huge!
