Still waiting for my 2.0T. Local Mobil station is my normal fuel stop and they have three grades of fuel with 87, 89, and 93 octane. Prices are $2.10, 2.48, and 2.88. With that spread does anyone have a suggestion based on their experience?

Well, like most gas stations, your local Mobil is overcharging for 89 octane (should be $2.36 since it is just a blend of 87 and 93).

I am in the process of comparing a full tank of 87 (current) and a full tank of 93 (next week). If there is a noticeable improvement in performance and mpg, I'll probably stick with 93.

If you want full performance of the engine, go with the 93. That's all we have in TX, wish the Jeep was tuned for it and thus had even more power, but some states only carry 91. Anything less than 91 and timing will be pulled. Only you can make a judgement call on the worth. I didn't buy my Jeep w/ the 2.0 for fuel economy, I bought it for the performance over the 3.6. I pay more for fuel, but I also have better performance.

Just did the math. Gasbuddy has Shell as lowest price on premium fuel which is 93 octane. Hard to find 91 octane here-usually 87-89-93. Premium is .85 more per gallon than 87 so on a 15 gallon fill up $12.75 more. Can use Boostane which boosts fro 87 to 91 with .36 oz per gallon x 1.18 per oz x 15 gallons=$6.37 per fill up. What am I missing here. Getting ripped for premium but have never used Boostane.

Only .29 difference here.
I would prefer to use premium over octane booster, simpler and proven octane rating.
I didn't buy the Jeep to save money at the pump.

Of course Jeep says not to use fuel additives. But what do they know. Right?

You are probably right-just hate getting screwed on premium gas here.

Yep that's the plan. The manual basically says it is designed to run 87 but better performance is expected when running 91.
We just got our 18 jl last week . Dealer said to run 87 , went to the kids round trip 400 miles. Averaged 22.6 with outside temps below zero for the trip. I am pleasantly happy.

No reason you can't mix 87/89 with 93 octane to get the desired 91 octane, while saving a little money.

A little more hassle at the pump, but for some of you where the price delta is so large, perhaps worth it.

I think the Rubicon with 4.10 gears and definitely heavier overall vehicle weight is at a disadvantage compared tot he Sahara and Sport models.
Until you spend a week around Moab, particularly on Golden spike and Moab Rim, you've wasted your money buying a Rubicon; then get a winch and do Pritchett Canyon.

I have the 2.0 T, 2Dr Sport, and have been getting mid to high 20s on 91 Non- Ethanol available here in Upstate NY. Now, with cold weather, I use 89 octane, which is a blend of 87/91.
That should be 5% ethanol, rather than the 10% of 87 octane.
The ethanol lowers mpg, but 89 octane is 30 cents less per gallon than the 91. So far, mid 20s ..

Same, I ran 91 octane since I picked up my 2dr 2.0T Sport, but now that the cold weather is here and a much lower chance of ping/knock happening, I switched to 89. Last tank was 19.5 mpg with all stop and go commuting, no highway drive time. It's been cold here in North Jersey too.
