What are the common ways in which drivers communicate to either other on the road where you are?

Here in the UK in addition to the quick wave, we flash at either other to say thank you or ‘you go first’. We also use our hazard lights to thank someone if they let us into a lane, or waited for us to pull out of a parking space etc.

I’ve noticed these gestures aren’t widely practiced elsewhere but waving is very common.

I’ve also driven on some mountain roads in China where drivers honk their horns before they round a bend (note that they do NOT keep to their lane... they just honk lol.)

Quite often you get people screaming at their closed window, but the most effective and understood polite communication is the "thank you" wave.
