How were these trails? I'm thinking about driving up there to run them. Only about 6 hours from DFW.
They're worth the trip IMO. Fun Run is very short, maybe 20 min. Snake is longer but not particularly challenging either. Easy to moderate depending on recent weather. Rubicon Ridge is a little more challenging, I’d call it slightly toward the difficult side or moderate. There are dozens of trails from simple dirt roads to suicidal. Go. You’ll have fun. I drove up from the Houston area, I think the drive was less than 7 hours or so. Yours should be shorter.

Cool, thanks for the info. Assuming a stock Rubicon should have no problems doing these....

Ran with a JKUR and a JLUR that had stock tires and no lift on Rubicon Ridge, the hardest of the 3.

I am wheeling at Windrock since Wednesday and heading to the Smokey Mountains Jeep Invasion on Saturday. My bud was not with us in the spring so back to Windrock.

That was a great trail! Stock Rubicon capable, but ~with~ damage. I tore part of my driver-front sidewall (no blowout), scuffed a rim badly and put a few dents and scratches on the skids and control-arm mounts. Everything to be expected from a good day of wheeling! I would say that trail requires a good spotter if you don't want any major contact. It was worth every crunch! We had a stock Gladiator Rubicon and a '15 JK with a 3" lift in the group. Can you guess who faired the best?!

Just ran Black Gap. It's supposedly mundane, but run it in the middle of the night and it's exciting to say the least...
It's been almost 2 years since I did Black Gap road, while not very technical, it was pleasant. I didn't think of doing it at night though, great tip! Ended up camping at Johnson Ranch, I'd recommend Solis, or Gauging Station campsites as they are right on the water.

It was quite fun running it for the first time at night, went north from River road through to Glen Springs. Had no idea what to expect. Things always look and feel worse in the dark, but there was one tight switchback on a climb that was pretty washed out and I'm sure picking the wrong line could send anyone tumbling down the ravine. I'd highly recommend the trail and the area in general as the scenery is stunning.

I can't believe I didn't post these before. This thread was new right when we did this trip.

Dickey Bell at Uwharrie National Forest, with @obwahn, @ThirtyOne and @GhostDivers along with a few others in JKs

Most of the trail itself isn't difficult, but there are some rocky areas that you have to pick the right line with a mostly stock rig.

Mine has a takeoff suspension off of a Rubicon, and running the factory 255/70R18 Goodyear ATs

Thirtyone on 285/70R17 KO2s

GhostDivers on 35" Coopers

Obwhan on 37" Patagonias with a 2" lift (made things look too easy )

As Sean, @Sean L, so nicely pointed out, we had a great time at Uwharrie. Here's my video as I went down Dickey Bell. #91

Ran through Pinyon Mountain Trail in Borrego Springs CA. My fender popped off and scratched my hard top a little going through The Squeeze. Easy fixes though. Great day.

Had a great time with the family out at Pinyon Mountain Trail. Only took a small amount of trail damage going through the Squeeze. Here is a recap of our trip. Loads of fun. Very beautiful place.
