Planning to be in CO and need help to plan my stay and trails to take. Was there in June 21 but still too much snow to do all of Imogen and Black Bear. Other than staying in Quay. What would be a good plan for 1-2 weeks stay. Pulling my Jeep with my RV. So need to stay in a campground\RV park.

Ouray and Telluride will take the two weeks to explore, we like the KOA but there is a nice hotel with hot springs to stay at as well. A must after long hikes.

Be sure to check out the narrow gage rail if you like train rides through the mountains.

2 weeks, really? What trails other than ones mentioned can\should I hit from here?

No train ride for me..... thought about it but what I heard from folks, pretty boring.

I love the area. You can do the badge trails in a day or two and be on your way if you are in a hurry. I recommend enjoying the time. We ended up exploring many mines and old towns while we were there that took much more time. The hot springs were very relaxing after some long hikes as well.

Here are some of the trails:

The KOA in Ouray is nice. Loads to do and see around there. Some friends and I are heading to CO prob in Aug though to do the CO backcountry trail.

The train ride is very scenic. Up a narrow river valley with some very narrow cuts in the rocks, a little time in Silverado, and back. It's fun if you're into scenery and trains.

This book has lots of info on the trails in the area. https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Colora...3391821&sprefix=wells+colorado,aps,144&sr=8-2

Try Molas Lake Campground near Silverton. Lots of trails to explore from Animas Forks which is near Silverton.

After a few days in Ouray, I would drive over to Moab.

Make sure you’ve got some backup plans. Fire season is going to be horrific this year in the Rockies.

Was in Moab last year after CO and it was HOT. Anyways I think my preference is CO especially this time of year. Maybe one year get to Moab in the cooler temps.

I beg to ask how do you know?

In any case if I can't go I will cross that bridge when the time comes.

While you can’t paint all areas in the Rockies with broad strokes, there’s been many areas with very low precipitation. Water now melts in spring/summer and keeps us moist. Without that water now, we’re gonna be in a super drought and that’s what breads massive fires.
