Can't wait to see the finished product! I'm ready to order my next JLUR and really struggling to pull the trigger. part is that no colors are a must have like the 3 Punk'n JLURs I ordered. I am also torn between the 4XE and the Eco-Diesel Rubicon. Knowing I want to pull an off-road trailer, and the additional range makes the Eco-Diesel seem better, but at the same time I really like the 4XE. I also keep wanting to see if the 2022 is worth waiting for, and holding out hope the Wrangler Mojave will actually be built. until then i'll keep looking at my old trip pictures and living vicariously through others like you on here!

I really would love a 392 with Mojave setup myself... but no coin for that level of nutty, so I'll be making it work with what I have.

On the Mojave front, I intend to invest in a better set of shocks in the future. Maybe even the hydro bumps. Not that my frame will be reinforced or that I'll have the iron knuckles ... but maybe Reid will be the option there.

Anyway, there is always something. lol

Look forward to what Jeep brings out after Bronco sales start cutting into the market share.

Owl and Fish Creek, Utah

A two day hike instead of the three planned to explore. Water sources were near the ends but not in the middle.

We made camp just past the confluence, with no fire it was an early night to start back in the morning.

Natural Bridges National Monument
Sipapu Bridge Trail, Utah

Another recommend trail from a local got us to this wonderful loop. Easy walking and well marked, it's going to be a repeat with my wife.

Bullet Canyon, Utah

The final day of hiking was a 6 mile loop down into and back out of Bullet Canyon.

This hike had some forts like the one on the ridge here.

I took some pictures of the nearly full moon as well, but they didn't turn out too well with this phone's camera.

Wow, that was fast. I just couldn't resist when I heard about this possible plug and play system upgrade.

Looks good so far:

RCA cables and PAC came with the kit.

Two amps are small but have a bit of heft. Class D, so efficient but maybe not SQ level gear. Will hope for the best.

The mount looks good. Will test fit both sides tonight after dismantling the dash.

Dash speakers look to be quality parts.

Quite a difference between stock and MBQuarts.

The 6x9's also look well made. Can't wait to hear the difference. No going back after the 6x9's are mounted.

No sub or sub amp, but I bet they will be an add on later. We will see.

I'm hoping that the system will sound good as is so I can regain my cubby for storage.

Slow going as I’m a bit OCD, but it’s going.

Gutted the interior dash. Today I will take out the seats and carpet for cleanup, running wires, and adding butyl damping to the flooring. I intend to get the Armorlite floor system when they have the full 2 door system available.

I will also take this time to polish the dash pieces as I should have done after painting.

The security module is moved to the new speaker housing, so I took the time to dampen it as well. It's a noisy little beast.

The new boxes are also getting a bit of dampening and stuffing.

So, I finally got the amps and front speakers tied up.

The PAC location makes it easy to get to if I need to update it for the chime volume. I'll also look into an amplified sub later depending how things sound.

Took the time to polish the dash pieces finally. Not a professional job, but a bit better.

Now I fit the 6x9’s in this sound bar. Got to put some rubber where the sound bar touches the sport bar to keep it from vibrating while I’m at it.

Wrapped up the MBQuart install.

Cutting the soundbar is a one way trip, but be sure not to cut too far out to the edges.

Also be very careful not to cut the stock wiring.

The plate that comes with the 6x9's has padding that will seal so long as there is surface left to mount onto.

I added a bit of dampening to the interior of both sides.

Fiberfill to round the setup out.

To keep the soundbar from rattling I added foam to the surface that contacts the sport bar.

Finally back together, the reinstallation of the trim must be done slowly so no extra screws are left unused. I missed a couple. D'oh!

Once the seat is fully back, the amps aren't visible. I did have to add a bit of duct tape to the wires under the seat to keep them from rubbing on the amps. Don't want them shorting out in the long run.

(Note: Set Minimum Volume Level to 0 and leave it there. Set Chime Volume Level to 100. Excellent phone calls.)

The power was turned on and to be honest, I was less than impressed. The volume was the same as stock, though there was a good bit more detail to the music. The tweets were a significant upgrade.

The trick is to download the AmpPRO software and tweak the settings. Turning up the volume worked wonders. Much more authority to the music now. Connecting the speaker wires in addition to the stereo harness to the PAC AmpPRO allows the stock sub to keep running while the speakers are now amplified.

(Update: The trick was to turn up the gains to half way on the front and slightly less for the rears. Leave the min vol alone.)

I'll be getting their sub amp when it's available and replace the stock sub with something a bit cleaner sounding. So far, I'm really enjoying the upgrade.

Okay, turned the AmpPro down to 10 from 20 and then increased the gain on the amps from minimum to halfway.

Found that the 6x9's overpower the front speakers, so another quarter turn up for the fronts and we have 98 dB at lvl 30 when it was in the 80's before. Still very clear and powerful.

Very happy with the upgrade.

Bunce School Road Plane Crash

After a bunch of missed turns I finally got up to the right trail. Keep going up.

Might as well air down...

Most of the roads are just rocky and fairly mild. Lots of UTV's buzzing by as well as a few motorcycles. I pulled off and took a break to walk a bit.

Back to the rocks. Once you get on the path up to the plane crash, things get a bit more fun. Choose your line carefully, and the Jeep don't care.

Made it to the top, but didn't have enough time to explore. I'll be back again. Saw the wreck some years back after hiking up to it. A bit easier when you have a Jeep.

More pinstripes, but luckily I didn't hit the trees that seem to be popular along the side of the roads. Good reason to have the soft top or no top on this one.
