I recently scored a great deal on a black hardtop for my JLUR. The hardtop was removed from a rental jeep and replaced with a new one due to some scratches on the back next to the glass. The scratches were very minor, but nonetheless apparently enough for the rental company to toss the top and order a new one. I originally thought I wanted to sand the top down and color match paint it to the jeep, but I did not like how easily color matched hardtops chip and scratch when taking them off. I was also not interested in paying the $500 I was quoted at my local body shop to paint it. For these reasons I decided I liked the color matched look, but I wanted the toughness of bed liner. I decided to use the Raptor Liner product as I have used it several other times with great success. My dad and I sanded the top down, taped it off, sprayed it with the raptor liner, and voila! I think it turned out great. It matched way better than I was expecting. Now no more worrying about it getting scratched or chipped, but I get to have the color painted hardtop look.
Note: For reference I used (1) quart of Nason base color (without binders) and mixed it with the (4) quarts of tintable Raptor Liner. Color was spot on.
