Coal Mountain Jeep Jamboree (PA) Trip Journal - Photos & Videos

I took my 2 month old Jeep to the 10th Coal Mountain Jeep Jamboree for two days of off-roading in these Pennsylvania mountains. So much fun!!! 3 meals a day included. Estimating 14 hours off road. Great event. Beautiful nature. Variety of obstacles, including “water crossings” (more like mud puddles that look like water crossings), 27 degree uphills and downhills on loose ground, tight navigation between trees, some rocks.

I was hoping to have 37” tires and 3.5” lift in time for this, but it didn’t happen.

Jeep organizes these events all over the country around the year. They are tailored for all levels, guides are professional, well organized, this one included catered buffet at a hall every day for breakfast and dinner and provided box lunches. It’s not cheap, especially for a whole family, but at the end I thought it was worth it. A lot of fun.

I just happened to get an email one day with openings due to cancelations coming up and jumped on it.

We love going to the jamborees. We have not done Coal Mountain (yet) but we have done Maine mountain, Killington, and Catskills.
We did Killington in July, and will be going to Maine for our 8th time later this month. That will be our 12th jamboree.

Some say the jamborees are over priced. And there may be some merit to that, but it is well organized, you don't have to be a club member, most jamborees are set up for all skill levels which makes it a fantastic place to learn to wheel because the guides are always great. And you get two full days of wheeling on some really great trails and get to truly realize what your Jeep is capable of. They have trails for everyone from the absolute beginner to the seasoned Veteran that really wants to be challenged. Not to mention the friendly like minded Jeeper crowd!

I'm not sure why the short videos in the first few posts are not playing properly anymore. They used to when I first posted them. They show more of the fun stuff . Maybe the admin can convert the file format so they work.

Looks like it was a blast! I was on the wait list for the Jeep Adventure Academy Rubicon Trail in August. I wasn't quick enough responding on the first opening but then they closed the forests to all activities due to the Dixie and Caldor fires anyways.
