Wow Max, just WOW! You've been busy AF, what a wild trip you've been on. BTW took the road to Hana way back in the early 80s, was a fun trip for sure, I think I still have the "I survived the road to Hana" shirt somewhere, lol.

Spent a lot of time on the other islands but this was my first time on Maui so we really made the most of it. Spent 3 months there and covered a lot of ground. I bet the road to Hana was a lot more sketchy in the 80's....damn that road is narrow in places.

Damn that TJ motor sounds beastly as hell, bet that's just a grip & rip ride there, what gears in that one? Love that lopey cam sound you've got in that one, it's gotta be a blast.

I have 5.38s paired with a 3.8 Atlas T-Case, it's been a good combo. Sometimes I wish I was a little lower in the rocks but that's just my personal preference and driving style. This time around I went with a Thompson Motorsports block and tried a new cam - BTR 400+ LS NA CAM. Heard great things about both products.

That Buena Vista trail looks pretty gnarly, but probably no biggie for you :)

I've been driving this trail for over 20yrs and it used to be extremely easy with some fun play areas. It's definetly more challenging and technical now but still pretty fun in the snow.

Cool that you were able to help your buddy in OK, good to know the right people at the right time for sure!

My friend's spread in OK is always a good time, and he has so much space I find myself at peice out there. It really is therapy for the soul.

Look forward to more of your adventures and details on that badass TJ for sure!
Thanks for sharing! Since I sold my JL last January (have a Tacoma now) I have to live vicariously through folks like you.
#missmyjeepeveryday

Hey nothing wrong with a Tacoma, I bet that IFS is treating you well. I've had several friends that have gotten out of the offroading scene, and don't miss the added stress that comes with the hobby. It's starting to wear on me too. When I had that misshap after the Rubicon with the shredded tensioner pulley it upped the ante for me so to speak.

This last update seemed more like a life update, but with the exception of Maui, I think it all correalates to some degree so I will keep sharing as long as you keep reading. Thanks Brad for following along, hope all is well.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Great stuff there Max, nice to have some food for the soul, these days it's hard to come by lol.

What transmission are you running in the TJ? Sounds like quite the crawl ratio you have, combined w/ all that power I'm sure you've had to beef up most everything under the skin.

Look forward to more updates, very very, cool!

For packaging reasons I went with a 4L75e and paired it with a TCI Ez-TCU by Fast. It gives me more control over shift ratios/line pressure/etc.

Still daily driving the jeep and exploring when time permits.

Jeep Wrangler JL CO Ketchup Build Random01

Had an issue with the front passenger side. Just felt like it was hopping over there on that side of the vehicle, especially to and from stops...like a really out of balanced tire or out of round tire. I even noticed the tire was cocked inward / to the body with the naked eye at some point and that's when I realized the unit bearing needed to be replaced.

I decided to go with Timken brand and replaced both driver and passenger side
Part Number: HA590809

Problem solved and back to a smooth ride.

Next maintenance item on the list is transmission filter and fluid change as I've just hit 60K miles.
