Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Ive got this exact problem, its going back to the dealer, one thing after another, after another. They "replaced the rear main seal" when they did the clutch job, guess what, it's leaking again. This is crap.

Fixed it was the upper oilpan gasket.

Have already schedule an appointment with my dealer, hoping I worried too much. I ordered my stick shift Willys on May, I thought the clutch recall isn't my concern. When I picked up my Willys on the first day of July, the clutch was so smooth that it was even harder to find the engagement point. After driving 500 miles, I feel the clutch is a bit of shaking when approaching the engagement point. When entering first gear, I can feel the pedal is a little bit of shaking but not a considerable shake when the clutch is stepped on to the end. This doesn't happens on reverse gear. Sorry, this might be a stupid question but this is my first stick shift. Any thoughts, everyone?

Clutches can be quirky. Mine will do something similar to what you describe when it is cold. My JK has also done that for 13 years and 142k miles, with two different transmissions and clutches. But again, only when cold. Once it gets some heat, it doesn´t do it. I´ve had many others that did the same thing over the course of 35 years of owning manual transmissions.

Clutch “chatter” during engagement can also be air in the line, which is exactly what the recall aims to prevent.... @bio86250 you may find this goes away when they bleed your clutch as part of the recall.

Just had the clutch recall done on my JLUS this morning. First, gotta say the clutch was never an issue. It drove fine, didn't slip out of gears, catch on fire, and needed no adjustment. But I wanted to get the clutch looked at/repaired if need be just to be safe. The narrative on the invoice says that "Remove tie strap install hose sleeve inspect reservoir hose for leak bleed hydraulic clutch (and then had some numbers)." The sleeve is No. 210020 if that means anything to anyone here?

Now, it (still) drives perfectly...like it did before. Took maybe 30 minutes. I guess it gave me some peace of mind. And, it was due for an oil change/tire rotation anyway, which was all covered under the Jeep Wave program. So it was all "free"...well, done at no additional cost...and came with a "23 point inspection" (not including the RainX I wiped on...so that makes 24 point, I guess). I asked about rotating in the spare tire too. But they said there was an additional charge for that (which is BS, but I get it...they aren't a charity and someone has to pay for the coffee in the lobby).

Has anyone noticed a rattle/tick when the clutch is released? I've started getting that lately. When the clutch is depressed it stops. I've been meaning to take it in for the recall but work won't allow it right now.

I’m interested to know if it is safe to drive as well. Like you, I’m fortunate to have another car to drive.

This just happen to my jeep thank god no fire. They are investigating it. It did exactly as recall said it would. I also notice burn smell at short times and thought it was because it was new. Should not even be investigated in my view

every car manufacturer has problem but fca has more problem than others. Yes I know Jeep is shit, I’m willingly buying a shitty product so I will stop bitching.

Oh by the way, dealer finally called my after 2.5 weeks in the shop for massive oil leak after clutch replacement. They found upper oil pan cracked, parts will arrive mid next week. Will report back once I got the vehicle.

Yikes. I think you posted in another thread that you just bought your Jeep in July? Am I correct to infer, then, that the recall was performed and they deemed your clutch OK?

What indications did you have (other than smell) that things were amiss before it self destructed? Was it slipping under load?

What does your insurance company say about this, given the known recall?
