What were the centerforce clutch install issues that you were having? I've read that a heavier fly wheel slows revs, reduces power and hurts gas mileage. Have you felt these things?
No install issues other than some self inflicted ones by doing it without a vehicle lift or transmission jack. I have a transmission jack but I couldn't go pick it up because of the shelter in place order. I also missed the clutch fork and blew apart my slave cylinder. Was able to get one from the local dealer, then I had some trouble bleeding it. Had to fully extend it, pump it carefully, and vacuum bleed it through the brake reservoir.

Anyway, yes, with the heavier flywheel, it does rev slower. That is a good thing. Say you want to jump into traffic with a 3500 rpm launch? Easy, blip the throttle, catch it at 3500, and let out the clutch. Before, you would blip the throttle and it either wouldn't rev hardly at all, or quickly shoot too high, then you'd let off the gas, it would drop too low, blip again, too high, etc... Very very hard to catch it just right, pedal too sensitive and motor too eager to rev. Plus two stage clutch made a proper jump near impossible without bogging or too much slippage.

Power still feel great, definitely feels better in stop n go traffic. Fuel economy? Yeah, probably lost 1 mpg. That's unforgivable. I mean, sure It's ok if 37s and bumpers and lights, and racks and so on and so forth cost me fuel economy, but it's just wrong to sacrifice that for an HD clutch... :CWL:

Had the recall done today. Took less than 30 minutes. They did have to test and dump the clutch in 4th. It passed, so they gave it back to me. The other recall for the radio reflashing took longer waiting for it to download.

Nice...which radio recall did you have done? My Android Auto has started cutting out and causing an error every 3 or 4 songs using spotify. Very annoying

Recall 20V-191. Where the back up camera may not turn off after taking it out of reverse.

Kaitlin,

I purchased a new JLUR and brought it home on Saturday, 16 May. I looked under the hood today and noticed 1) the clip holding the wire harness to the low pressure reservoir hose is still present, and 2) there is no protective sleeve on the low pressure reservoir hose. Removal of the wiring harness clip and installation of the protective sleeve are listed as recall procedures.

Does this mean that my vehicle has not had the safety recall performed? Here's a picture of my low pressure reservoir hose.

You did not have the recall repair done on that Jeep. That clip is the primary problem. It causes wear, in addition, pulls on the reservoir hose potentially causing air to enter the system. The air in the system is what causes the clutch to fail to engage/disengage properly. I cant believe so many dealerships are clueless about these safety recalls.

Ahhhhhhh! Shortly after I got my Jeep, I noticed fluid down my driver front fender liner. Found that this hose was pulled away slightly. I further attached it and the leak had not returned. Now I’m curious to see the results when I go in. Thanks for this info!!:fist bump:

Today I had the wife repeatedly press the clutch while I watched the hydro line. Come to find out, the entire master cylinder flexes a bit on the firewall as she pumps the clutch - crazy !
That IS crazy, I had 91 Ranger I bought new that at 160K miles had fractures in the firewall from the clutch pedal flexing it that bowed so badly the safety switch wouldn't engage any longer! This was on a rust free N CA vehicle. What you describe scares the S out of me!

Just called my local dealership and they mentioned the part number is listed, but parts are not available. He told me to call in about two-weeks.

I just called again couple of days ago and the answer was "couple of weeks" .I asked if the parts are coming from China and the specialist started to explain to me how complicated the suply chain is blaaa, blaaa , blaaa , so I gues we will have to wait. Due to the Chinese virus most of us are not heading on vacations anyways so I can wait longer.

I know this may be asking for a lot, but is it possible to edit and point to the pin/sleeve in picture? I have my recall scheduled to be inspected in 2 days.

Did you have the clutch test done already? We can look into the part situation for you, just send us a PM with your VIN and dealer name.

I don't mind. Here's the photo of my car. Red arrow = clip that's supposed to be removed. Blue arrow = low pressure reservoir hose that is supposed to have a protective sleeve.

For reference, this looks exactly like the picture provided in FCA's recall remedy procedures document

Per the remedy document, my vehicle should not have the clip, and it should have the protective sleeve pictured here:

This is concerning, because when I picked up the vehicle I asked the dealer if there were any open recalls on the vehicle. They said no, and that they're not allowed to sell a vehicle with an open recall. But clearly, the recall has not been performed.

I didn't notice when I test drove the vehicle, but now that I've backed out of the driveway a few times the rpm's will drop whenever I shift into reverse (that shouldn't happen). Doesn't happen when going into first. Makes me think the clutch may not be fully disengaging when in reverse, which furthers my suspicion that the recall was not performed.

@JeepCares, do you have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Lee

Lost my clutch last June at 1200 miles on I-70 coming out of the PA mountains. Dealer replaced the clutch and fly wheel. Never could figure out the root cause. Only hassle was waiting for parts from Japan. I had a really bad June.

Fast forward to today. Dealer installed the heat shield over the brake line as part of the recall. Only hassle was having to come back a second time as they don’t locally stock all of the recall parts.

Wow, my dealer can't get a replacement kit for the defective replacement kit Chrysler sent to them so they had to put the original parts back in and return my Jeep to me while Chrysler figures it out. This is crap. Dealer has been awesome, Chrylser/FCA ? not so much.
