Dan, as a member here for more than two years I have to say that I always enjoy reading your posts. Thank you for always being a voice of reason and for taking the time and effort to impart wisdom gained through experience. The knee-jerk āFCA sucks! The sky is falling!ā replies are exhausting.I've known people who have driven clutches for many years but with bad technique. They tend to run through clutches. I've seen others that go 150k on the original. Those folks getting 150k+ are very unlikely to see this thing overheat, again, unless there is a problem.
Oh, and I do believe you hit the nail on the head, here. I have a few family members who āhave been driving manuals for 30 years!ā that completely suck at it.
Iām approaching 32k miles and have had no issues, myself. (I did let my 16 year old smoke the clutch a few times practicing hill starts with the nanny feature turned off. No Iāll effect that Iām aware of.)
A handful of failures out of 33,000 vehicles is hardly a reason for people to panic, though I fully acknowledge how badly the situation sucks for those affected.
