I asked what you suggested, and he said "I would guess Stop Sales first". We'll see.
I’ll be honest if it’s that way it makes complete sense and it shouldn’t hold us up too long because the dealers already have them or know where they are if they’re in shipment, and something tells me that number is probably pretty small and definitely a lot smaller than the 60k

Sold vehicles on the road should be the very first addressed, then the stop sale on lots
An issue with that is I’m sure quite a few people ignore recalls

You may be right…Will be interesting to see with this one…will people blow off a “legit” fix to exploding clutches? If legit fix, of course!

Depending on whether it is a legit fix, as you point out, I expect many might upgrade to aftermarket clutches instead because they offer heavier flywheels too.

And also people who upgraded their clutches with aftermarket does that count as recall closed or a permanent open

Assuming said people would turn in proof for reimbursement, those VINs would be tagged as 'corrected'.

#2, I detested the random engagement
I've never experienced this. It's dead in the middle within an inch of the same spot all the time. I can drive like an old man or young man and it just works. I also only seem to notice rev hang above 4k or so.

This points back to the usual rejoinder in these threads, It must be the driver! Well, no, not only, but we here talk as if there's one problem and, unfortunately there could be several. People fighting with clutches and transmissions will wear them down more quickly; off-road abuse, tractor towing events on the track, won't help. It's all issue not because of wear but because of the uncontrollable failure mode.

Given such concerns, it's probably best I'm not in an automatic. I fight with those things so much it would probably explode on me.

DennisDillonJeeps, I've a follow up question.
Just got some recall info from my Dealership, who received it from their District Manager. They said sold orders will get 2nd priority, and affected vehicle on the ground would get first priority.
Does that mean MT vehicles stuck in D1 won't get finished until already purchased vehicles are completed? This sound like a very, very long time for D1 vehicles.

What do you think?

For what it's worth, Jeep chat assured me today that new MT builds will not leave the factory with recalled parts.

May have been obvious at this point, but there was some initial speculation about them being built then sent to the dealership for the recall work.

I still expect to wait, but it's better than getting in line behind the other 60k recalls at the service dept.

Did they say anything about an estimate on build time?

Not yet. I was pressing hard for any clue, so the rep said he would escalate it. He seemed to indicate that a case was being opened with a "specialist" due to the amount of time that I 've been in D1 being "longer than usual for this milestone.

If I hear anything I will update this post.

It may very well be a possibility that Jeep would update recall status for Jeeps when their owners submit for reimbursement for install of a non-exploding clutch... if they do, Jeep will flip your recall status at the same time they send out your denial-for-reimbursement letter.

I didn't question her story, but she didn't elaborate in this thread, which I was specifically responding to as I had not read (or don't remember reading it? I'm not sure) her previous thread on the matter. In this thread all she said was that it "blew" which could mean her clutch blew up, and all I said was "What exactly was replaced on your jeep? a clutch repair should not have been 9k. kinda sounds like there is more to the story?" She could have simply said "look at my previous thread" or "here's a link to my previous thread" instead she got defensive and apparently you took at as an opportunity to jump on my case.

I was not surprised by the clutch recall, I was very aware of the number of issues people were having with the clutch ahead of buying my jeep, and planned on installing a centerforce anyway. But please jump on my case for not having read EVERY thread on the clutch issues.
Fair enough.

I guess people like csddoglover have been posting and trying to raise an alarm for so long, they just don't feel like linking old threads.

When the JL clutch pressure plate disintegrates and sharpnel blows through the transmission housing - that's no longer just a clutch replacement, that's an addititional transmission replacement. Probably the reason for the $9000 bill.

Unless Stellantis just wants to seal the bell housing with duct tape or JB Weld. Which might explain their unwillingness to acknowledge a defective and really shitty clutch design.

Roger that. Even if you get a Jeep that is already on the ground, you still have to worry about the recall. With my new Estimated Shipping date of 4/28, I'm hoping that they have their estimate on when they expect to get to new builds 🤞 .
