wow, 225 pages..................

so my 2024 jlu with 3.6 and 6spd manual had the "service transmission" warning pop up after the odometer hit 113 miles. It went into limp mode at that time and i shut it off and drove to a nearby dealer. the scanned and found no codes so i drove the 30 miles home. No issues. But over the course of the next week it came on a few times but with no limp mode. It would go away on it's own at times. I even drove in 4lo up a washed out road to my camping spot and it never came on under those conditions. One time i started the jeep after it sat all night and the warning popped up.

Dealer came and picked it up- from 100 miles away- and they fixed it. i have 1600 miles on it now since they fixed it at about 300 miles. No more issues. They re-flashed the pcm using tsb

18-050-24 rev. b

That tsb wasn't my issue exactly but it seems to have fixed my issue.

i never got the MIL, just the warning...

Maybe you need that flash done? I am on stock 33's though.
my issue has not come back so i'd say it's fixed for good.

It's costing FIAT load of

This is interesting. My JL is at the dealer since yesterday for the replacement job and today afternoon was the pick up time. I just spoke to the mechanic and he said some bracket has broken and he has to do the job tomorrow morning. When I talked to him first he said he fixed already about 9 of them so I would assume he knows well what the deal is and possible the bracket isn't manufactured well.I was never thrilled with the shifting experience with the JL.The clutch had minimal sweet spot if there is any and the shifter got bit rough, maybe it could use some lubricant I figure,I'll have to look at it,every little extra move by the mechanic is costly, almost as bad as my dentist.
I'd be interested to find out how your radio/video faired. I love the shifting point, so much better than the original clutch assembly. It's a solid feel and strong clutch engagement, no more guessing. I have 4k on the recall clutch upgrade.

I just got my Jeep back yesterday with the new clutch. Feels great. They nailed it on the install, no squeaks or issues of any kind. It isn't really different than it was before except that it is much more "grabby" but that's because it is new and the friction material is not burnished or broken in yet.

I guess I'm one of the few who was perfectly happy with the original, so I was hoping for either nothing to change or for it to improve. I've probably driven 40 miles, so it is way early, but so far, I'm very happy.

The manual transmission tech at the dealership is very good. He did my JK clutch a long while ago and did a perfect job with that, too.

glad to hear this! i just know except with the "service transmission" message i got when brand new on my jlu 2024 willys, which was fixed by dealer with a eeprom flash, i've been super happy with the way it drives/shifts. way way way better than the older wranglers i test drove and never bought- mainly due to the wicked shifts and clunks those had when new. we are supposed to get 3-5 inches today/tomorrow and i am itching to take her out in it BUT dreading the salt brine getting everywhere if i do.

I’m really not looking forward to getting this done… just got the postcard in the mail saying my jeep has this recall. 2019 JLR with 66,000 miles, all stock except 35” tires and some other small changes, and it currently has the software update that shows the gear you’re in on the dash.

Did they finally figure this out? Is this just a clutch replacement or did they actually change anything?

by the way, I haven’t been on the forums in forever. Got super busy moving across the continent and starting a new job. Good to be back though
I bought my Jeep used with 25k miles. I don't think the recall was done because I called, and they wanted me to make an appointment. I declined because my Jeep drives perfect and from the horror stories I keep hearing, I'm just going to wait until it's a need. But my question is, I see the gear I'm on in the dash, so I guess that means I have the software update. But what software update are we talking about here? Mines 2021.

FWIW, my JL 2022 2 door Sport had the gear display in the dash from the get go.

Our 2023 has the gear indicator on the dash. We have not had clutch recall done. I have not had any updates.

Didn’t the 23’s and 24’s get the recall done at the dealer or factory before sale ?

There have been several recalls on this, before the full clutch replacement. One of the earlier recalls had the gear indicator change, can’t remember which one.

I have a 2020 JL sport that I bought used with 750 miles on it in feb 22, the recall was out but no remedy at that point ?

I now have 20K miles and haven’t had any issues really other than soft pedal ?

I canceled my appt this week to have it done after reading all the horror stories the last few months here and elsewhere

Didn’t buy it from the local jeep dealer and not sure if I trust them to do it right

I’d feel better if jeep could explain in detail what the difference is between the existing and replacement clutch or if there is any , seems that’s a grey area

The latest recall is the one after the flash displaying the gear indicator. It involves replacement of the clutch and some related parts. What year is your Jeep?

Mine never had a problem in 99,000 miles, so odds are you'd be ok. But it shouldn't be too hard for a competent tech. In fact, it should be pretty easy.

Most Jeep techs have no clue as to the actual changes. I believe (educated guess) that the friction material and possibly the metal makeup of the pressure plate, if it is replaced. I'm not sure about anything else. There is a software refresh, but I have no clue what that does, either.

It’s 2021 and it doesn’t seem that the clutch recall was done since they tried schedule me in.

There seems to be horror stories with both doing the recall and going aftermarket. I decided to leave well enough alone, at least for the time being.
