Did it help with steering.
It didn’t help my steering at all. But it’s about 1-1/2 of play has been since 10k miles. 5miles to 9999 was good..hit 10k slightly sloppy.

I had been having this same issue and just wanted to provide an update for anyone who is having a similar issue. It sounds like it may be becoming more prevalent.

I had the same issue: a metal-like clicking sound at low speeds, typically 1-3 clicks at a time. I really couldn't figure out any pattern to it. It sounded like it was coming from the left front. It was really only noticeable with the windows down or the doors off. I didn't notice any issues with steering, transmission, etc., it was just annoying.

I took it in this week and they found that a left front ball joint bolt was not properly torqued. I can confirm that fixed the issue. I hope this saves y'all some time if you take it to your dealer.
Took mine this morning they told me it would take all day. I asked them to just check the ball joint torque. Can’t do that. Showed them video of the noise. We need to go over everything. I’ll take it to a mechanic and pay him.

I have a very loud version of this noise the dealership said it was a wheel hub bearing. They told me they had the part in and to drop it off 3 weeks later they say they haven’t actually got it in yet. Another week goes by (a month now) they say it’s replaced and ready to pick up of course the noise is exactly the same and now they say it’s operating by design.

Lol that's great. I'm sorry, not laughing at you. I had the dealer replace my wheel hub and they admitted it wasn't fixed. Then they took the whole knuckle apart and Chrysler told them tighten everything to factory torque specs and now the noise is gone. So I would either suggest going to another dealer or take matters into your own hands and tighten the nuts on the knuckle some more

yeah I tried telling them to starts there but as soon as you mentioned anything about hearing something on a forum they intentionally ignore that possibility entirely so they get to figure it out the hard way I guess. Sad part is the customer service at the dealership has been better than the case manager at Jeep cares at least I can get them on the phone or return my calls.

I had to go to a different dealership. If they would have refused then next step would have been to call Jeep. So far it’s been close to 2800 miles and no clicking has returned. The loose steering is another issue altogether.

The Tech re torqued all 4 and added that if the clicking returned they would consider full replacement. So far my only lasting issue is the sloppy steering which no one seems to think isnt normal...

So, re-cap and update on mine.. about 8 weeks ago my Jeep went into the shop I told them about this thread and asked if they would just check the ball joints, assistant service manager said techs would just laugh at the fact that I was suggesting something on a forum and that they would do their own diagnostics. They said it was a wheel hub and that they’d call when they got the part in. About a week later they said they had it and I dropped my Jeep off. I opened a star case the same day. TWO WEEKS later I call to check in and they still don’t have the part.. another week and a half and they say it’s on and fixed. So I have to go to enterprise and drop of the rental FCA has been paying for the whole time and pick it up. Before I get out of the parking lot i can hear the exact same sound so I call my case manager at fca she says the dealership says it’s operating as designed and they won’t do anything else.. I assumed she thought I was talking about the loose steering which I’ve had it in for when I first brought up this noise so I tried to explain that it was this sound and not that. She said if I want to take it back to the dealership she’d keep the case open so I take it back and show the service manager and they all agree that it’s not normal. No idea why they didn’t just test drive it to see if it was actually fixed. Now it’s been there another 3 weeks and they’ve replaced the wheel hub on the other side switched the shocks and replaced the U-Joint. I’ve called several times asking them to just check the ball joints and I get the same answer as before. Keep in mind I’ve had a star case open this whole time and it’s been very hard to get updates or get anyone on the phone every time I call my case manager is unavailable. Initially all I wanted was a buyback or vehicle replacement as these are far from the only problems I’ve had and between the rentals and the parts being thrown at it that probably would have saved them money. I’ve now been without my Jeep for 7 weeks.

TLDR jeeps been at the dealership for this for 7 weeks with a star case open the whole time dealer has replaced both wheel hubs u-joint and switched shocks still haven’t messed with ball joints.
