My 39” BFG’s rub on the evap canister. This is my 1st attempt to stop the rubbing. Ignore the stuff peeling off in the pics, it’s Plastidip. 3 nuts to remove. Then there’s an electrical plug on the back. Then there’s a red and green tab that you remove from the 2 hoses, then push in on the gray plastic tab and pull. I jacked the body up and then put a pin bar up in there and let the jack down along with hammering the front mount to get it to fold over. I cut a metal tab to hold the front mount on. A porta power jack would have beven a lot better. A porta power would also let you push the 2 rear studs back some. I picked up 1/2” to 5/8” of clearance.

I’m lower the most with only a 3/8” bump stop extension. And I have roughly 5” backspace (stock wheels plus 1 1/2” spacers). If this isn’t enough I’ll look for a porta power, or could possibly move it under the Jeep?

Anyone else done something similar?

I'll check this now next time I flex out. I was fixated on the pinch seam at the front of the wheel well. If your profile is correct, I'm on the same backspacing as you, but 1" wider wheel, so potentially 1/2" of extra clearance on the inside tire edge. Same tire.

I year and change later I'm back. I was running 3" bumpstops with my 39's on my JLUR. My body was constantly holding me back, not the evap. Now I've got a 2 door Sport, the 39's are about to go back on. I went to install rear fender liners today to try and run 2" of bump in the rear. I ran into a clearance issue with the evap canister. Did you ever find a different solution or did this continue to work for you?

It’s still working fine. I’m still on the three eights inch bump stops, I do have a 1 1/4 inch body lift, though, which makes quite a bit of difference for the big tires.
