@Clayton Off Road

Thank you very much!!!

It’s hard to decide between the 2.5 and 3.5 lift for 37” tires because we don’t have pictures to compare both heights with 37s. Are there any pictures of the 3.5” lift with 37” tires? My Jeep will be unusually light so I’m looking at pics of lift and no accessories as my guide.

I paged through all the pictures on this thread but all are of the 2.5 with various wheels/tires, and they look so different too (and none have aftermarket heavy accessories yet). I also looked at Clayton’s website but website doesn’t make it clear which are of the 2.5 and 3.5.

Also any thoughts on or experience with the Bilstein 8100? I like that you can adjust both compression and rebound, especially because my Jeep will be unusually light. I understand they are not particularly easy to adjust, but I believe much cheaper than comparable products.

Thanks again. I just ask them here instead of calling for benefit of others.
Here are a couple of photos of our 3.5" Overland Plus kit with 37's!

As for the shocks, we don't have any experience with those specific models personally, but Bilstein is a great company that makes great shocks so I'm sure they would work nicely! The kit still works great even on a completely stock, unloaded Jeep so I wouldn't be too worried about how light your build is going to be! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Here are a couple of 35in tires with Clayton 3.5. Initially I ordered the 2.5in lift kit but it was out of stock. I installed their 3.5in and it looks fine to me. I am sure its not for everyone but I am ok with it. I am sure 37in looks better :)

Thanks Clayton!!! Much appreciated. Here is a side by side to make it easier for folks.

I don’t see a difference. I guess there are too many variable.
  • Weight of vehicle
  • Rim width
  • True tire height
  • Angle/distance of picture
Both look awesome.

Edit: After posting and seeing side by side front is a bit higher on the 3.5. Probably because of the roof tent rear looks a bit lower or same on the 3.5.

So I installed my @Clayton Off Road 2.5" Overland lift on my Ecodiesel over the weekend. I took before and after measurements and I was a little lopsided to begin with but it's even more lopsided now! It really leans to the right now. What is the best way to counter this? Spacers? I did torque everything down with weight on it. I have the steel bumper group and Warn Zeon 10S winch. Here are my before and after numbers and total lift.

Front Left:
33.5 before
37.625 after 4-1/8" lift

Front Right:
33.25 before
37 after 3-3/4" lift

Rear Left:
29.625 before
32.25 after 2-5/8" lift

Rear Right:
29.187 before
31.5 after 2-3/16" lift

It looks fantastic otherwise even with my 35s. A little more lift in the rear would have been nice since I load down with gear for camping. Another question I have is my bump stops. I have very little up travel it seems in the front. I was hoping for more up travel. Would it be safe to shorten the bump stops?

Mine was a little passenger side high like that too when I first installed it so undid everything shook it around and jacked it up and down and then on the ground I torqued everything bolt to spec and it was a lot more level than it was before.

I really like the lift so far now that it’s aligned but I lost like at least a half inch with the bumper and front 2 skid plates so I’m gonna put a spacer in the front to fix it. I can measure my fenders if you want me to but I have rubicon fenders and 35’s so unless we are the same it will be hard to compare.

Thanks. No need to measure. Mine's a Rubicon on 35s too but I'm also a diesel. Clayton's instructions are to install the right rear spring on the left side and vice versa for the other since the fuel tank on the diesels is on the driver's side. So my driver's side is the high side.

If you'd like, PM me some pictures and we can see if there's anything going on from the install! As for the bump stops, you should be able to completely flex out the vehicle and fill in that wheel well, but if not this is something we can look into for you as well! We try to be more conservative with our bump stop height, but you can always flex the vehicle out, see how much bump stop you think you actually need, and then trim them down accordingly.

I am considering this shock (note specs). But I wanted the Clayton 3.5” lift. Can you confirm if shock would work with either Clayton 3.5 and/or 2.5?

Those would work well with our 2.5" kit, definitely. For the 3.5" kit I would look for a set of shocks with specs a little closer to these: https://www.claytonoffroad.com/product/fox-jeep-wrangler-jl-35-4-package-1?sku=FOX-5109003

Have had my Overland Lift sitting in my garage for over a month while waiting on new wheels / tires to be shipped. FINALLY received an email that my wait should be coming to an end in the very near future!!!! Excited to finally put it all together!!!
