You can run 35's on a Rubicon with stock wheels. I am with no lift........yet.

I do not have a rubi. I have a sport with rubi wheels. What I want to know is whether they will fit with the Clayton Offroad kit. They specifically state on the website new wheels are needed, and here as well. So looks like I'm getting new wheels when I want 35s after my lift.

Rubicon's have slightly wider axles than Sports do, so you'll need a wheel spacer to fit 35's on Rubicon wheels with sport axles or as you said, new wheels.

If you plan on keeping it on road mainly you'll be okay, but for best results and no rubbing, you'll want to add some spacers or look for wheels with 4.5 to 4.75 of backspacing. Just for reference, I'll include a photo of a JL on our Overland Plus kit with the factory Rubicon wheels and 1.25 wheel spacers!

We've had the Clayton Overland+ on for 3 months now and super happy with the results. Everything about this lift is amazing so far. Once it settled it made me want to jump to 3.5" springs and 37s :CWL:. In all seriousness though the 2.5" with 35's is pretty much in the sweet spot for this JLU.

Looks like that vehicle is probably just operating at normal weight/payload as I don't see any sort of steel bumpers or other heavy accessories to indicate otherwise! If carrying a lot of extra weight is important to you the Overland Plus kit is more than capable to get the job done though! I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about how much weight you plan on carrying and how that might affect things, just let me know!

How off road friendly is it for light riding nothing crazy? Also did you regear for the 35's?

I can tell you with more than enough confidence, you don't need a new driveshaft with their 2.5" kit. I've had mine installed for the past 12K miles, wheeled in 5 states, pushing it hard and I've yet to have any issues with the driveshaft. Even the boot looks new except for the dirt on it.

I gained 3.5" out of my 2.5" kit on my Sport S with plastic bumpers. Since adding my spare tire carrier, 35" spare, and rock sliders, it's settling in and it'll continue to do so as I add aftermarket bumpers.

If you're worried about a 2.5" kit being too tall for 35's, I'd suggest rethinking the type of kit you go with. A majority of your overland kits are designed to carry the extra weight of overlanding equipment and will sit higher if you're not loaded down, something to keep in mind.

I haven't regeared yet only because I'm doing a 1 ton axle swap down the road. I've got the 8spd auto and don't see 8th gear very often, mostly on the downhills. Mileage isn't too bad, still getting 17'ish in the city and 21-22 on the highway.

Never re-geared our shop JL and we're on 37's, pretty much see the same exact mileage on ours maybe slightly less!
