CLASS II TOW PACKAGE QUESTION (2" ?)

I ordered my new Jeep with the optional tow package. It said that it came with a CLASS II RECEIVER HITCH (SEE BELOW). I thought CLASS II hitches were normally 1.25" receivers. When I got mine I was pleasantly surprised that it was a 2" receiver. I'm glad but confused. Aren't CLASS II receivers normally 1.25" receivers? I know the actual class rating refers to the 3,500 rating but does anyone know why it came with a 2"? Again...happy it did but confused.

All good questions. Yes and yes are my answers, but if you read up on the towing debates, you'll see the rest of the world gets 5500lbs while we get 3500lbs. My assumption is the JL didn't pass one of the US certification tests.
