nice! What made you go with these over the MC ones?

I got Rock Krawler No Limits front sway bar links in a few days ago and had the chance to install them today. It’s a straightforward swap of parts to replace the SteerSmarts links.

The MC ones are just exactly like stock ones only slightly longer. These are longer, length adjustable, and have helm joints to allow a lot more articulation.

I went out to see @rustyshakelford at BnL Jeep Shop to pick up a new MetalCloak front driveshaft and have him install it. Simple easy swap. Looks good. Now I won’t rub anything in front when fully flexed and won’t damage the shaft from the extreme angle at the transfer case end because this one’s got a double cardan joint.

I put the SkidRow Offroad curly exhaust skid plate on. Gathering tools and taking pictures both literally took longer than installing it. There’s only 2 bolts, so it took all of 3 minutes to install. Will it help? Maybe. Certainly it’ll protect it from light hits and scrapes. My only concern is that there’s not clearance between the exhaust and the skid so I’ll have to see if it causes any vibration or abrasion on the exhaust shield on that part of the pipe. If so I can place a washer or two under the upper control arm nut where it mounts.

Yeah, in this pic it looks like it might just give you some rattling. Can you beat that small section of the exhaust guard in a bit?
It might work out better if I just cut the aluminum heat shield off altogether.

EDIT: cutting the shield off seems like it’d be a PITA, it’s got a couple of spot welds. SkidRow should make the shield just 3/8” wider, it would fit without exhaust interference and there’s plenty of room there, it wouldn’t be in the way of anything else.

I had a chance to get a little work done today in magnificent weather. I started installing my ARB twin compressor under the passenger seat using the Innovative JK bracket. Other than a few hiccups from working in tight spaces with big hands it was pretty straightforward. Got the wife to actually help me in a useful way getting her smaller hands under the seat track. Got it mounted and all of the plumbing put in. Next up is wiring it up to power.

I like this option. How’s the noise when airing up. It’s pretty loud I’d imagine

Not really loud. You hear it humming. It’s not quiet. You feel it vibrating in the passenger seat. But I wouldn’t call it loud.

I had a few minutes to try to correct the interference of the SkidRow exhaust skid. I wheeled it hard once and it barely contacted the shield on the piping. The small spot.

My wheels are +12 offset (5.22” backspacing) and I have the MetalCloak 2.5” lift which recommends 4.5” backspacing or less. I installed a pair of Synergy 1.75” spacers which puts it at 3.47” backspacing which is great as far as suspension clearance, but it’s too much wheel poke for my liking.

So I ordered a set of1” Bora wheel spacers which arrived today. That’ll put the backspacing at 4.22” and bring in the wheels .75” at each corner. They look and feel like quality parts. Time will tell. I’ll get them on later today I hope if the rain holds off for a while.

I haven’t really examined it and decided how I’m going to wire it. I think maybe underneath the rocker panel trim, under the glove box, and through the firewall somewhere. I’ll waterproof any opening through a grommet by using some silicone.
Did you end up going through the passenger side firewall grommet or elsewhere? I have my kit coming soon and want to start planning it out.

Yes, but I had a local Jeep shop do the electrical wiring. It wasn’t expensive, it was done right, and I didn’t have to do it.

I got my Armorlite floor in this week. I’m still waiting on delivery of several cans of Boom Mat spray on sound deadening. So I removed the carpet which is very easy. Once it arrives I’ll give the floor pan and lower firewall a coat or two before installing the floor covering.

Naturally I expected to find a little trash and a few surprises under the seats. All of it was under the front passenger seat. Most of this was not unusual. But who recognizes that little guy on the right? That was a surprise.
