Brand new JLUR ... custom factory order, drove off the lot today. 180 miles driving on I-95 from MD to NJ ... symptoms exactly as described above. The Jeep steering wanders excessively. My first Jeep / truck ever ... so am struggling if this is a ‘Jeep Thing’ or not. Not happy at all.
Hi zingat,
Congrats on your new Jeep! We understand your concern. Please send us a private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this and we will gladly assist you with that process.

Let us know how it goes, and what tire pressure makes a difference.

There are real issues with component and bushing strength, lift kits, steering box, etc, but tire pressure is the place to start. I learned that from these forums, so a big Thank You to all the steering issue posters.

And, never, ever let the dealer tell you "Jeep Thing". The real "Jeep Thing" is the reason why we buy Jeeps despite the dealers best efforts.

Picked up my new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (JLU) 3 days ago. Manufactured on February 19, 2019. The pressure on all 4 tires was 44 psig on the day I picked my Wrangler up from the dealership. Reduced the pressure to 38-39 psig before hitting the road. Aside from a very slight wandering to the left and right, everything seemed fine. Further reduced the pressure to 37 psig yesterday, and it now seems to be tracking straight and there is no dead zone that I'm able to detect. I only have 45 miles on the vehicle, so it may be a bit early to determine whether or not I have a steering/wobbling issue. Will have to put about 300-400 miles on it within the next 3 weeks before heading out west on a 2,350 mile trip. Stay tuned. I am retaining the suspension and tire size in stock format.

Build date sometime April 2019. Sorry don't have the vehicle on hand to verify
97 miles delivery date 05/10/19 05/13/19 power steering module fail. Part is back ordered until May 30th so my new Jeep sits.

To add insult. there's also a power draw they cannot locate.

It has wandered with excessive steering wheel compensation at highway speeds since the day I brought it home (July 5th 2018).
I thought it just me until I started reading all of the reports of similar issues by other owners.

Now, at some 12,3xx miles and 6 months later, it still drives, steers, and tracks great with the stock suspension.

Installing a lift, wheels, and tires, next week . . . Fingers crossed.

The first 500 miles felt a bit strange, but I think it was me just getting used to it as it is my first Jeep Wrangler. I seemed to wander a little compared to the full size pickups I've been driving for the last 25 years.

Now, I don't have any issues with the steering and behaves predictably to me.

Almost 30k miles here and mine is fine. Now, I'm running 37" tires, so is it as crisp and smooth as it would be stock? No. However, even tiny movements back and forth on the wheel make it to the tires and move the Jeep as it should. I want to replace the trackbar, drag link, and tie rod by nature of accommodating the larger meats, but as far as general performance, my steering is still solid.

Mine was a bit squirrelly as delivered.

40psi.

Went down 2psi at a time, and landed at 30psi.

Perfect. Tracks like a train.

I was so worried about steering issues I damn near skipped ordering a jeep. Then it arrived, and we taken it on 3 big trips, and couldn't be happier. Wife says it's not quite as easy as a car to drive down the highway, but barely. HAHAHA that's a pretty good testament I would say, considering solid axles BOF areodynamic as a brick with wide 33" tires!

FCA has knocked it out of the park with these JLs. Well except I'd like more torque but that's another story, ha

That's interesting. I bet it rides nicer also with softer tires at only 30psi?

Did the mileage go down at all when you went from 40 to 30?
