Check Engine Light on Since Second Day of Ownership

Bought my Sahara JLU a couple days ago, 22nd - less than 200 miles and my CEL came on today with half a tank of gas. WTF is going on.

I already did, more alarmingly yesterday when I turned my car on it revved up by itself, not part of the opening animation, and gave me the message "service electronic Throttle control".
I'll send the VIN again.

Not sure what the lemon laws are in your state. I had an issue some years ago, not on a Jeep product because the laws are very specific, I had to send them registered letters as proof of delivery with my intention of following through with my States lemon law. In New Jersey after three repairs I believe ,(it's been awhile) they have to give me a new vehicle and you can bet on the second time the issue was fixed! sometimes you've got to put them right behind the eight-ball and then it's amazing how all of a sudden they figure something out rather than waste our time!

Took it to dealer, they said they reset it. To bring it back if it happened again.

Depending on the state I believe the very first repair you have to file your intention to use the Lemon Law. If it isn't fixed based on your State's guidelines they will have to give you a new vehicle or at least buy it back. If everyone on here followed the exact same thing FCA would fix these issues in a heartbeat, let's face it the bottom line is the almighty dollar!

My engine light end it being cuz I installed a towing hitch and 4 pin connector so had to unplug tail lights. So light came on but dealer fixed it

Check engine light came on two days after purchase on my jlu Rubicon. Next day the gas cap light. Brought it to the dealer and they claim it was a evap canister. Waited almost two months to get the part in. Two days later check engine light back on. Anyone with a similar issue? @JeepCares

Yes. I bought my Wrangler Unlimited Oct 2018. It's been back to the dealer 3 times for a total of 4 weeks. The light goes on every 800 miles or so. It's at the dealer now going on 2 weeks. They changed a few sensors and the control module. Called Chrysler to start a lemon law case. Good luck.

Check engine light came on at 500 miles and 1.5 weeks of ownership! Error codes P04D1 and P04D2. So frustrating!

If any of you have a 2.0, there’s many software updates for them and “phantom” CEL. Hang in there guys, the JL’s aren’t all bad.

Same here: bought a new 2018 JL in NV, 3 days of ownership, 600 miles. Engine check light came on.

Can't smog and register my car in CA and dealership doesn't seem to care and told me to "go to DMV and ask for extensions". they even said if might cost me $145 to check the code if I had broken something myself...

I suspect it's gas cap/EVAP since it occurred after I put gas. (3/4 tank)

I came across this thread searching for "engine check light on in new jeep wrangler JLU". I took ownership of my 2021 JLU Sahara on 11/14. The engine check light came on yesterday morning while parking the vehicle in my garage, and has stayed on since. I plan on scheduling a service appointment later this week. I am very annoyed by this right now.
