Really sick of having that giant gap in the back when my cloth seats are down, especially now that i have a 2nd dog. Is there a 3rd party gap hider? If not what is the cheapest option to get the oem parts?

it's not a trench cover, but I keep a moving blanket back there. It acts as a cargo liner, allows me to unfold it and spread it out to protect items as well as the jeep when cargo may rub up against the sides, and works to cover the trench when the seats are down.

It also works as a soft base for the dog to lay on, when I have to pick up our sons dog if they go out of town.

Interesting idea. I have a blanket i stuff in there right now. Its just not large enough to cover it all.

Yeah, the moving blankets are thick and stiff enough to help. For the down I keep it fold in 4, and just cover the trench. She can stand/sit on the solid area in the back or lay on the blanket.

Interestingly, she actually lays along the trench on the blanket, the slight dip seems to give her more support when the Jeep is moving.

They cost like $5-6 at Northern Tool and Harbor Freight. When they get nasty I toss them and buy new ones. They last me 2-3 years.

Will this work without the factory trench cover?

Hi @cargo.

From my links and their dates please understand that I'm new to this product just like you. I don't own it and don't know the answers to your questions : - (

Perhaps @BillG, an owner...as per the first link I provided, or the people at Canvas Back can address your questions. : - )

I don’t have the trench cover. The Canvasback liner covers the trench, but there is no actual support right there. As it is held in place with Velcro, a heavy dog stepping there might cause it to sag over the trench, but it’s probably better than it being open.

One option is to get the MOPAR cargo mat for the cloth seats that includes the gap hider. It's just like $20 more than the gap hider alone. You could sell the cargo mat if you don't want to use it.
