Today I modified my stock Rubicon wheels by adding a little more flair with the accent red color.

I used red reflective rim tape. I wanted to bring out the Rubicon red accent color some more without overdoing it. Before ordering any of the tape (under $8 on Amazon) I did a mock-up version by editing a photo of the stock wheel on my phone first.

I did have to trim the tape down to about 3/16” because it was originally much wider.

I am currently waiting for my fender vent decals to come in the next week or so!!

Edited: More photos showing side profile view in sun and reflectivity at night. It’s not a high intensity reflective tape, but it is noticeable.

Very cool! Not long ago someone posted the link to a site that makes vinyl accents for the snowflake Rubicon wheel as well which were also red. Same concept.

Nice! I’ll try to look for the link. I did see a site that had decals for the entire snowflake, however, I personally thought it was too much red for me. Plus I wanted it to be reflective at night. I will try to post some night pictures of reflectivity.

Nice, post pics of the whole jeep
Thanks, I’ll try to get some better pics of whole Jeep in sunlight too. The side profile pics I took yesterday do not do it much justice, it was cloudy when I took them.

This looks amazing, bonus to me is the added safety factor.

Super looking. I just bought red Plastidip for my Rubi wheels. I have a different wheel than you though . I am going to do the alloy outside area. Waiting till I change my tires.

This is a old thread but very cool. It deserves a bump for creativity. The thin red accents match the red accents of the Rubicon. I like that the red is very subtle until light hits it. Nice added safety feature also. How did the red reflective tape hold up after some use?

Where is thin red reflective tape like that available? Thin reflective tape like that in white or black would also be great for other applications. It would be great for a bicycle at night.

Search for it on motorcycle accessory websites, or better yet, eBay. I purchased some reflective tape a few years ago for a few projects. My personal preference is for the tape to match the background surface color (i.e., functionally invisible in daylight), so that it is only visible, meaning retroreflective, when bright light is focused on it. IOW, headlights and the like.

With proper surface prep -- cleaned very well, with a final alcohol wipe -- such tape is remarkably durable.
