Bottom line is that its your Jeep so OP do what you want. You are not wrong to change at 2K but you are not right either.

Its synthetic oil which will last 15,000 miles. Filter is usually rated at 10,000 or 15,000 miles according to the manufacture packaging. That being said, do what you want as its your vehicle.

20+ some years ago there was an independent study that I read where a guy compared Amsoil to Mobil 1 oil running it a 350 V8 Camaro. Both oils did great and the Mobil 1 and filter went 15,000 miles before it needed changed. Amsoil was less than that but do not remember its life span. He was getting Blackstone Lab testing done every 1,000 miles to tell him when to change.

I was a skeptic of the OCI counter to begin with since I grew up with dino oil and a 3K recommended change interval. My wife and I have easily put over 500,000 miles now driving our various vehicles following the OCI counter. I only use synthetic now and would never go back to dino if I could find it.

@Jeep Junkie

I do some pretty questionable things to my Jeep, but I still change my oil filter every 5,000 mi.

If you want to get technical, you could probably run an oil filter for 20,000 mi without issue, but if you have any metal flakes in there, you won't know for 20,000 miles. :headbang:

I think this is one of those prime examples of the saying, better to be safe than sorry!

That being said, you do you, **** everyone else!! 💯💜

I am on 3.6 #5 and I do it differently...I completely clean the threads on both the cap and the housing...oil the Oring and use my in/lb torq wrench which is very precise and torq to 18 ft/lbs and never had an issue...I have changed oil about 100X at least....
Yep, same with me. I change engine oil on all four (4) of the families 3.6 engines. Clean and oil the threads, and Oring. But I torque ours to 10 ft lbs. Never had an issue doing this.

Jeep Junkie is the first and only person I have ever blocked on a forum. Too bad it only blocks what he writes and not his posts entirely. He is a troll and the community just keeps taking the bait.
I know peoples that are like this in real life and yes it can be draining. On the other end he does bring a lot of activity to the forum without much controversy, must be good for the AD revenue.

2K on oil and 4k on filter is what I want to do
Since you are changing your oil more than needed or recommended you will be fine. Change the oil every 2000 miles and filter every other and the small amount of residual oil in the filter will make no difference.
