This may sound funny but is the user guide and owners manual the same thing?

There is no harm in it. I always change my engine oil at 1000 miles (every 5-7,000 miles from then on) and differential fluid around 4-5000 miles (then every 30-50,000 miles.)

Did my 1st oil change at 3000 miles. I will go to a more reasonable 5000 - 8000 mile interval from here on out. I figured I would want to get that 1st oil out quicker than normal, but didn't want to do it too soon either. In my opinion, 500 miles is not enough to even break it in, so would be too early - again, in my opinion.

This topic is oft discussed and you'll have as many different opinions as responders. In the end, do whatever gives you peace of mind as it will probably make little difference one way or another...

They are similar but not the same. The users guide usually comes with the Jeep. You can call and request a printed Owners Manual from Jeep and there is a pdf version available on the Jeep web site. Plus if you have the 8.4 inch screen I believe you can access it there.

Many years ago, several decades actually, it was common practice to change oil after break-in and was required in many owners manuals. I am unaware of any mass market cars that recommends this these days ..... there may still be some, I don’t know.

That said, do what you find comfortable. I personally don’t bother and I go with what is recommended in the owners manual.

This is what I’ll do.
A friend of mine builds custom differentials for 4x4 vehicles. He suggests to change rear differential fluid at 500 miles. Amsoil suggests to change it for its first initial change no sooner than 4000 miles and then follow manufacture recommendations afterwards.

On the other hand, manufactures aren’t going to provide advice that promotes long term care beyond warranty. They want you to come back to purchase another vehicle!

I put 80w 90 in. Then I saw it says to use 75w 85. Is this okay?

I've had many new cars since the 70's and always followed the manual without issue. I did know a guy in high school that ran a new Ford without an oil change until almost 50k miles and the engine locked up. Never found out if he ran it out of oil or whether it just turned to sludge back then.
