I got down poured on in my JL with the doors and top off driving to work. Several inches in the bottom of it, the electronis were completely soaked and the dash looked like there was a water hose taken to it. I got home, pulled the drain plugs and took out all of the carpets to lay in my driveway, while they dry. Taking the carpets out only takes 10 minutes, very well designed. My JL is an early 2018 model as well.

A year later, no issues. Jeep still smells new and no electronics problems.
I found the drain plugs. But I didn't realize the carpet also came out easily?

The carpets come out very very easily. The are kind of just tucked under the plastic trim and seats.. if you basically pull it, they will just come right out. In my opinion, that should always be done to avoid any mildew or mold issues.

Yes, drying it out is important for this reason, as well as keeping the screen from going crazy. My screen didn't do that, though. I think it may be because I have the Mopar screen protector on it. @BlackRook do you have the screen protector on yours?
Dan, where do you get the screen protector?

It is a Mopar part. It comes with two in a package. Mine is the 8.4, but I'm certain I saw them for the 7 inch screen, too.

It is part number 82215337 and it can be had at Quadratec for 20 bucks.

Mine got caught in one of those "the sun is shining but its pouring rain" classics out in the parking lot at work this week. I was sweating what impact it would have on the electronics (mainly touch screen) but all seems well.

I had a little trouble pushing a few bubbles out at the edges, but unless I showed them to you in certain lighting conditions, you'd never know it. Otherwise, it looks exactly the same as without it and the touch sensitivity doesn't seem to be compromised, at all.

I think the biggest problem is how water resistant your pride is.
I'd hate to be stuck in DC traffic in a major down pour. I'm sure other folks in traffic will be taking pictures of the guy all wet in non-moving traffic to post on their Facebook page. Of course they won't be able to see my smile.
I personally think getting caught in the rain is kind of fun in the Jeep. Makes me feel alive, and instantly brightens up the day of anyone who sees me!

The raindrops changing my radio station does get a bit annoying after a bit. Maybe I’ll buy a screen protector ahead of the next time this happens...

Just like any screen protector, they are a pain in the ass.

We got caught in a good 30 minute downpour. The conversation went a little like this:
Me: should we put the top on? There’s a 30% chance of rain.
Husband: that means there’s 70% chance of sun!
So off we go - of course it started pouring while standing in line at the hardware store. We managed to pull it under an overhang for 10 of those 30. Dried it out when we got home, lifted the carpets to let it dry under and have had no issues.

For me getting stuck in rain/snow is an adventure and fun. I used to find hail to be an adventure as well, but with the JL now not so much. Of course if I'm on my way into work or or stuck in the high country that's not good, but if it's on my way home it's just fun. If you notice someone taking a pic just flash a thumbs up and let them see your smile.
I love the weather but hail can go to hell. Tired of my vehicles being destroyed

I purchased the vinyl top from Mopar. I like the fitment, but the zipper (header) made me scratch my head with water protection. Well, got caught in first rain yesterday...came to a stop, and the water poured through the zipper like a waterfall, over the sun visors, on my lap, down through the dash and windshield, and made it to my feet. I think the only think it kept from getting wet was my face. Very disappointed that not one bikini top is available yet. Had one on my CJ, and TJU that were designed much better. Anyone find one for a JLU yet?

Yikes lol I bet you were pissed!

You should really write a review on that as I am sure it could save someone else from purchasing it.

I got caught in a downpour, no top, no doors. I had to use a microfiber towel to clean the water off the inside of the windshield. The rain not only changed my stations, it changed my presets.
