Carplay wireless dongle --needed or not?

My car has wired CarPlay only and my mother just bought a car with wireless CarPlay, and while it is super convenient that it connects as soon as you start her Lexus, she always ends up plugging her phone in to charge anyway because CarPlay is a battery hog. I guess that leaves me wondering what the point of wireless CarPlay is. But I also hate it while i leave my iphone in my car and just can't find out where my car is.

I use mine all the time but yes on long trips I plug it in but for back and fourth to work and other trips that are not long it’s super convenient.

I have wireless CarPlay in my soon to be traded-in Silverado and I paired it with a MagSafe charger and mount. Every time I hop in the vehicle I just place it in the MagSafe and it connects. No wires to plug in.

I love having wireless carplay in mine. It sometimes crashes but pretty rare.

Carplay is cool, but I've found it doesn't supplant a more standard phone dock/mount.

Mine doesn’t have wireless charging and it’s fine. I do have a 67 designs mag mount but again no charging. For long trips I just plug it in at that point but great for shorter stuff for Spotify etc
