Maybe I'm an idiot, maybe I'm old (or both)🤣
But I can't seem to find the CarPlay, or Android Auto anywhere in my new Willys' 8.4 Uconnect screen (with the upgraded Nav & audio)??
If anyone can give me a quick pointer I'll delete this thread promptly! 😉

You have to plug a phone into a USB port and enable it. Google how.

No, for apple car play you'll need this,
and for Android auto you'll need this.
Good luck.
Wow, that's kind of disappointing. Two other cars I have (Ford Sync, and BMW) do android auto wirelessly... oh well.

But hey, thanks again for the pointers and info!

Such a bummer. My 2022 RAM has UC 5 and wireless. Looking at a 23 Wrangler since our 19 was totaled and they still do not have it. It would be nice for once to have both vehicles from the same manufacturer work the same.

for android there's this one also AAWireless | Wireless Android Auto™ for everyone
I use it, it's fine.
The only thing that bugs me about any of these systems is that the USB port it plugs into stays on for like an hour, so if I'm close to the car it keeps trying to reconnect. It will 'refresh' the screen on your phone every time it tries to cycle connection and it can get quite annoying.

I guess in the big picture (it's been my experience) using Android Auto for things like navigation on longer trips, something I do a lot, having the phone plugged in is really best for battery charging anyway. Seems like Android navigation (particularly Google Maps) just kills your phone battery.
And since you can plug the phone in at the USB port in the console, and throw the phone in there, cord issues are out of sight, out of mind.

I'm not sure about BMW (I thought they catered to iPhones) but Ford's Sync is notoriously bad. UConnect has always worked very will with Android phones for me. My Wife's phone is always on low battery so she plugs it in anyway and the Android Auto works well for Navigation.

The Apple CarPlay devices/dongles have USB pass through. So you can use CarPlay wirelessly or connected via USB.

Interesting, I've got a '22 Superduty with the latest Sync 12" screen and Android Auto wireless works flawlessly. I think these things get better every year.
