The past couple months have been hell, my Jeep has a mind of its own. First all the lights will turn on and off on the dash (every light, shift issues pops up, the wipers turn on and the worst part is that I can't steer the jeep. It is almost totally locks up, I can only make big turns. This happens to me daily, I have videos and have taken it to the dealership twice and they can't figure out or duplicate the issue. It is extremely frustrating and scary when I am going 55 mph and this happens. Anyone else have any issues like this or have any ideas where I should go from here? Thank you! Ken

Isnā€™t this the steering recall?

Hey Ken, there is a service bulletin out about replacing the aluminum steering gear with a steel one. There have been many who have talked about it and have had it done.

there are many posts about what you are experiencing and how 99% were fixed. so start reading then call your dealership and tell them you would like them to perform the TSB 08-074-20 to rectify your situation. Because they have to order the parts and in my case I waited almost 1 month and a half and then the service crew came down with covid so add another month! Check out the link there are many posts/threads.

That sounds like an electrical problem. I would try another dealer if you can. That or insist they test it until they're able to reproduce it. That sounds really dangerous. Best of luck getting it fixed!

PS: Check that the fuses in your fuse box are tight. They might be really loose.

Sounds like a bad battery......just because itā€™s new doesnā€™t mean itā€™s good.

Make sure all the fuses are seated.

Those are 2 quick and easy checks..

I've seen something similar from a member here who had a computer related ground wire that was loose in the rear seat area of the Jeep. There's no reason, with all that you've described, that the Jeep dealership wouldn't escalate this.

You may want to reach out to @JeepCares via PM to have them help you with the issues you're dealing with.

Driving it, knowing it has these issues, is a risk that is too great to justify.

Yes, check the fuse seating, I was having the steering issues and read to check the fuses. I was like, that couldn't be it. I was shocked to find over 50% of the fuses and relays weren't seated! But it didn't solve the steering issue.

I had the same issue!! I brought it to a second dealership, (first dealership said they performed the tsb but I still had the issue) where they performed TSB again and that seemed to work for now. It involved clearing out and reformatting the computer. Hopefully it's resolved!!

Had a similar issue where the Jeep would end up dying after an electrical freak out. No power steering. Happened three times while driving. Ended up being a sharp edge on a skid cutting though wiring sheathing. They fixed the wiring and itā€™s been fine since.

We're sorry to hear about these concerns with your Jeep Wrangler! If you would like assistance while in service, please send our team a private message. I would be happy to escalate a case to a specialist for additional communication and support.
