Can you sign in while on the trail or does it have to be at the trailhead?

Just ask @cosine he knows!
On our upcoming Colorado BOH trip I was planning to run Engineer pass from the Engineer Pass connector up to the summit, this wouldn't be the official start or end of the trail so was wondering if I log in to the BOH app will I be able to collect the BOH for Engineer Pass?

You just need to be near the trail. It will work in the middle if you have phone service. There are many trails where you can't get cell phone service and you check in when service is available.

I did Engineer pass from Lake City to Silverton a week and a half ago so I technically checked in at the "end" of the trail and everything got accepted just fine.
