What I have circled in the pic appears to be threaded and I am thinking it should have a possible screw in cap. Can someone identify it. It’s approx under driver side front seat

I looked at mine. It's a thermostatically controlled heater for the automatic transmission fluid.

So this is like an engine block heater, but for the automatic transmission? Where does the external 110v plug into this, under the hood ? Driving off plugged in would be a major embarrassment

I would assume that it's like the 8 speed Rams, it uses the engine coolant to provide heat to the transmission. Somewhere in there is a thermostatically controlled valve that opens/closes depending on if the transmission fluid requires heating. It's a common transmission fluid leak point on the Rams (the o-rings on the tubes connecting the trans to the heater seem to get deformed/torn somehow).

I am not a mechanic, and I didn't even bother to crawl under my Jeep to look, just taking a slightly educated guess.

It's either a whirlygig or a thingamajig. I cannot tell from the pic. Perhaps a bit closer and we will know.
