CenturyLink did this to me except they just ran it through the corner of my yard and left it in the grass on the ground so my new neighbors could have internet. I politely called them and told them when I mow in a couple days that my lawn mower will not discriminate between grass and coax and to get it hung on the pole otherwise they can come repair it after the fact. They fixed it a couple days later. 😂

When we lived in Indiana, had an incident where high winds brought down a cable line so that it hung about 12 feet above and across a 2 lane road - this was around 7pm and dark.

Fearing it might get snagged or drop lower, neighbors called sheriff dept who brought a fire dept ladder truck (for height i suppose).
This is exactly what I would do. Call 911. You don't know if that line is powered or not, and it is the utility company's liability.

As soon as it lightens up outside I'll have to take a look and see if there is any damage but I didn't see anything obvious. It's raining heavy for the next several hours so it's going to be fun. The fact that the cable is already on the rig makes me wonder how much they dragged the cable over it and danced it around before it came to this resting place. Did it snag on a mirror, windshield wiper, fender? Just pull harder I guess! Even if I give them the benefit of the doubt and the guy had a heart attack while he was up in the bucket, xfinity should have sent someone else out to take care of it.

It's just that I already know it's my internet cable and I still have service, so I don't want to make it worse on myself out of spite. I will call the city and let them know.

I am incredibly fussy about my vehicles, so things like that just burn my ass. Could it have been an honest mistake and pulled out from somewhere else? Maybe. But still, make it right at least.

A few years ago I had planted some creeping juniper in my ditch line because it’s far too steep for me to mow, and after weed-whacking it for over ten years, I was just kind of over it. Just a few short months after me planting it, low and behold here they come the to do all of the boring for fiber internet. The very morning after we got home from the hospital from my son being born, I look outside to find two derelicts yanking out my $20 plants. I was just thrilled….

Fast forward to them hooking the fiber up to the house…. It’s basically f*%ked up like a spaghetti sandwich and looks like a blind raccoon put it up with his back feet. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Their response? “We’ll fix it”. They have yet to fix it and my kid is now almost three lol.

Honestly not worried about the jeep, I just can't believe they left it that way.
I can! You wouldn't believe some of the horror stories I have. Hopefully they didn't scuff your Jeep.

Took a different car to work and came home to this... The cable guy was moving the coax cable to a new pole on the street, which was closer to my house. Looks like he just let the extra cable droop over the jeep and in my driveway. Judging from other cables on the pole, they aren't finished and just left it. Thanks xfinity.

Good grief!

That is unacceptable work.

I know I'm just complaining about poor quality workmanship. In all seriousness, is this kind of work exempt from pulling permits or not regulated in some way? I mean, it doesn't seem like there would be a lot of wiggle room for interpretation for utilities to be at the random discretion of the installer. No code requirements? I passed this on to the city code enforcement, who passed it on to the Public Works Director, who passed it on to ODOT, etc., etc. You see where that is going...

I was just about to say the same thing! Haha. TBH, I felt bad for OP until I saw in the profile that he drives a Prius. ;)
LOL, and don't let up on that for a second either. I took one for the team on that Prius, long story.

There are minimum overhead wire line clearances for electric and telecomm - quick look at google says 9.5 feet (14.5 for electric) in Oregon - typically your Public Utility Commission has a contact method for reporting violations (hazards) - I'd call dumb-cast first to fix it and if they don't do it in a few days contact your PUC and complain. That's just lazy /poor work obviously

Reminder to read the service agreement - when you agree to service you typically give them right away plus ingress egress rights for inspection and maintenance - so that would bite him on the backside - they still got to build it right tho
