No regrets on remote start or the garage opener. The app version costs $$ after a year but one on your remote is free. They won’t take it off anyway. It’s on the window sticker. Not like it’s a dealer add on. Cheers.

As everyone has said- you can’t remove it. I don’t know why you would, but it’s there to stay anyway. If it’s really an issue of cost- that’s your only play. But in this market- you may or may not have leverage.

Just wanted to point out that the value of this particular optional equipment isn’t lost if you don’t use it.
For example, if or when the time comes to sell the vehicle, the convenience package will definitely figure in to the valuation of the vehicle in your favor which may help you see this personally unwanted option as less of a loss over the life of the vehicle.

The Convenience Pkg adds to the perceived value of the Jeep. It adds to resaleability. Don’t let $800 get in the way of buying your first Jeep.
I have both features and appreciate the remote start. The door opener is meh…

Yep to each their own... right now the garage door/gate opener function I don't use but I like the capability.

I definitely enjoy the remote start. Never had before so I need to get used to using it. As it is... I kick myself for not using it more.
😅 I’ve been called worse than that at some dealers.
Hey that's a compliment!
My father has an app on his phone for his Tesla and loves it... he can be anywhere in the world and he can heat it up, cool it down, and many other things.
Now here is where I struggle. Maybe if that was free, I might find an opportunity to use it. But I can't see myself starting my car from a location that I am not able to jump in it before it stops running. I'm certainly not going to pay a recurring fee for that function.

In those cases where I am concerned about parasitic battery drain, I would connect to a trickle charger. I see no other cases where I need to start it without driving it and as I understand it, you need the FOB in the vehicle to do so.

Maybe I am missing something?

The convenience package is basically a 500 dollar garage door opener with the manual transmission. I really wish they would just throw that crap in for free with the cold weather package.

Be aware that the remote start function is only free for the first year. It is part of the UConnect Remote Services package and will cost ~$150 a year after the first year.
You're joking...

Neither my 18 or 21 cost additional subscription and if my 22 does I'll sue.

Lot’s of people seem to be lumping the Uconnect/SiriusGuardian remote start with the key fob remote start. These are separate things.

The remote start in the convenience group is the key fob remote start. That is free to use forever.

Thanks - do any of you have the convenience group, and is it useful to you?
Yep. Remote start is great, for the reasons already described here.

The Homelink system is also great. You can program more than garage doors, although that’s nice. My is programmed to open a security gate on one button, and one garage door for each of the remaining two. I think others have programmed a button to activate/deactivate home alarm systems. There may be other uses.

In Oregon we have hundreds of smash-and-grab car clouts every day. One of the popular techniques is to steal the garage door opened from the visor, get the home address off the vehicle registration, swing By when the house appears unoccupied, and use the garage door opened to access the house through the garage. The Homelink systems don’t get stolen and provide access like that.

I realize OP doesn’t have a garage, but maybe someday? Either way, the package has some value for the next purchaser and, as others have noted, there is zero chance a dealer will remove it.

Yes and Yes. Louisville may not get as much snow as Boston but we sure get the cold. More than once I have been glad that I set the temperature for heat and remote started to go out to a comfy and defrosted Jeep. If, however, cold is your thing then it won't serve you very well.
Good luck with the negotiation, hope it works and enjoy your new Jeep!
It's kinda cute when someone from the Southernish US talks about the "brutal" cold.

Ok you’re right. It’s cold here based on a reference to here. The upper half of the country does get a lot colder that the lower half. You get more snow too. We get an inch of snow and they cancel school. With that said I still think the OP would find the remote start useful. Happy Jeepin’

And I'm just giving you a hard time. Ive often said, "In Minnesota, pretty much nothing can kill you but your own stupidity. Most other place in the country has plenty of snakes and spiders and other critters that can do you in."
