Be aware that the remote start function is only free for the first year. It is part of the UConnect Remote Services package and will cost ~$150 a year after the first year.
Key fob remote start does not require a subscription.

That is only through the app. I assume he is talking about remote start with the keyfob.

I have a 2018, no subscriptions to anything, and my key fob remote start works just fine. It’s only the app that requires a subscription.

Thanks - do any of you have the convenience group, and is it useful to you?
Hot or cold days the remote start is clutch. No worries of someone getting in and/or stealing the Jeep while it warms up/cools down the interior for me. In Boston, I’d imagine being able to de-ice the Jeep from your living room would come in handy, or at least get the heater up to temperature? If it has the cold weather group, the seat heater and steering wheel heater automatically come on below 40° with the remote start too.

Yes and Yes. Louisville may not get as much snow as Boston but we sure get the cold. More than once I have been glad that I set the temperature for heat and remote started to go out to a comfy and defrosted Jeep. If, however, cold is your thing then it won't serve you very well.
Good luck with the negotiation, hope it works and enjoy your new Jeep!

Something else to consider if you ever do get a garage, or something else like an access gate to operate with the opener: this was a big deal with JK's and previous. With it built into your jeep it will be inactive when Jeep is off. If you go topless, it can be in plain sight without being stolen/copied/programming stolen. I love it so much in the JL. Used to have to hide a small garage remote in the roll bar padding on my JK's.

I think the FOB remote start doesn't have a charge. I'll never buy RS, so I could care less.

That said, we as consumers need to put a stop to the upfront and ongoing charges bullshit like the extra charge for friggin paint color, etc. I think it is Toyota that's gonna start charging yearly for things like heated seats.

No, just no. Unfortunately 90%+ of vehicle buyers are uninformed, idiot lemmings so sadly, things won't change because there is always someone who will say OK.

not a jeep dealer, but I was called a "grinder" by a ford dealer when I tried to get them to reprice based on an add-on that wasn't agreed upon. Apparently that is a known industry term. I'm a grinder.

You can request anything you want. They’re going to say no but you can still make the request.
