Well I dropped my Jeep off at moss brothers in Riverside ca this morning at 9 am and asked if we would be provideded with a courtesy vehicle during then repairs , the service manager told me that our Jeep needed to be diagnosed before they gave us a courtesy vehicle . It’s 6:30 pm now and I’ve tried to contact them via phone calls and no one will answer . It’s sad that we have purchased a 50,000+ Jeep with them and didn’t get a phone call from them . This leaves my family in a predicament. We are in need of another vehicle to maintain our normal life . What should we do ? Thanks a lot moss brothers Jeep Riverside ca .smh.

UPDATE. 10 days after core replacement and we just today got a whiff of the burning smell sgain! Hoping it was just residue, but worried, and watchful!
Did you ever find out what the smell was ? I had the same problem and my dealer said they replaced the heater cores , so they said , I am still getting the strong smell of coolant .

So they kept my Jeep at the dealer for 24 days, they said they replaced the heater core . The smell of coolant is still present and strong . I feel like they only gave my Jeep back because I told them that in 7 more days my Jeep would fall under the lemon law . The problem is still there .

Sorry to hear this. Document your complaint with NHTSA also.

It was the heater core. The faint smell finally went away a couple weeks after core replacement. I assume coolant had to burn off of things. So far, so good. And my frame welds checked out ok, too, so I bope we are good for awhile!

Well that’s good to hear . Thanks . I just heard that the 4 door 2018 jlu got a recall for the passenger back door hinge . They said that the door could open on its own . You can check on the mopar website to see if your jl needs that recalled . Just an FYI .

FWIW a burning heater core would smell sweet, not like burning plastic.

Both times Ive smelled a burning smell in my JLU is when the rear defrost connection unsoldered from the back glass.

Your defrost connector came unsoldered twice?

I'll have to look around mine - I also have noted the smell since day one, and it's still here after 2 1/2 months of ownership...

I got my heater core replaced and the smell is still there . I’m not sure what the problem is . It’s the smell of coolant that’s for sure .

It’s been over 4 weeks since I had my heater core replaced and the smell is still there.

Hey BigDog, did you figure out what the smell was? We just noticed a plastic burning smell in ours and we have had it two weeks. Ours is 6cyl/auto same as yours
if the smell is outside, roll under the jeep and pull all the tags off hot stuff. I had a big sticker on my muffler that would cook every hill i went up.
