Are you part of the Bubbling paint/corrosion club?

If so take the poll, and share what you’ve done ....or NOT done?!

for those that have tried having it “fixed”...share your dealer/shop experience and how it’s held up!

Thanks,

Jay

There are 2 threads on this topic with over 40 pages of posts. And I know a law firm is looking into class action lawsuits

lol I put my vote in
Lol thanks!

I’m curious to see by the ones who have how they’re repairs went and for who hasn’t how it’s progressed.(I know some of this info is in the many pages of that thread).

Again maybe I should of brought beers to the poll or spiced it up better lmao

I like to think of this poll/thread as a work in progress!

A poll that asks if we're a part of the bubble club and then none of the choices have NO for an answer seems strange.

No bubbles here. Could it have something to do with mfg year or color?

What year is your rig?
So far I’ve seen someone report it on every model year. (Unfortunately) and I’ve seen most colors...

it’a mostly hinges (galvanic corrosion) but it has happened to the lips of doors and hoods for others which sucks even more!

this is a friendly club. Just not one you WANT to be a part of

it’s wide spread enough that there’s a TSB out for it

I am a lucky bastard.

My Jeep is one year old: it is a Sahara with those massive side steps that double as giant mud flaps against flying dirt and debris; I added a set of Mopar mud flaps, and the Jeep is garaged.

So far so good. Knock on wood.

Mines also a 2019. At the moment I have it on one hinge, not as bad as some others I’ve seen. And it seems to be occurring on another hinge (maybe) it’s hard to tell...but I’ll know for sure in the coming weeks .

Mine was built in April 2019.

And first showed up this past June.

so a little over a year before it began to occur. I know cuz I’ve checked my hinges since last winter when I came across the bubbling paint thread.

looks like you are also in the “lucky bastard” category.

congrats!

"Lucky Bastard" club might not be so lucky actually. Due to the chemical base of the problem, almost everyone will encounter this issue at some point. The current "Lucky Bastards" will potentially be outside of the 5yr/60k mi warranty on the paint when the issue occurs, and knowing FCA they will be SOL and have to foot the bill

I see your point! You make a good argument...

BUT...sometimes it’s not even the money to have it corrected, it would be easier for me to “be ok” with having to correct issues like this if I so wish 5-6* years down the road on a vehicle, Opposed to the first yr or 2!

But solely financially wise, your point is very valid!

although there’s also the aspect of....as I stated in the poll....does it get corrected and yet resurface? Making the bubble club....double bubble? :movember:
