Guess I overtightened hinge pin nut and it broke off in the hinge pin?
Do I have to order an entire hinge assembly...or can a new hinge pin be inserted?
Thx in advance

You broke off the entire pin, or just the threaded part? If just the threaded part, don’t worry about it. Many people ditch the nuts after removing the doors for the first time.

I don't know if the smallest part you can acquire to fix this is the hinge, or if you can go smaller: like some subpart of the hinge.

When this happened to me I bought a new hinge (make sure you get the correct side and upper/lower) e.g. https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/upper-door-hinge-jl-jt/driver-side-upper

and matching paint if you don't own (spray necessary, not liquid):

https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/5-oz-paint

If you go this route, when the hinge arrives, lightly spray the front side and let dry. Don't worry about 100% coverage on the first coat. It's far more important to apply too little than too much paint such that in the latter case, t runs.

Let it dry and add coats until you are happy with the appearance.

With the door attached and closed, use the appropriate torx bit and wrench to loosen and remove the broken hinge. Replace it with the new one.

Don't forget to shoot the clear gloss, I would use the two stage that comes in a can, it dries much harder and resists scratches better

It's a good point Sal. When I did my hinge replacement I also bought this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0082LJMC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but never used it as the hinge looked perfect with respect to sheen from the MOPAR factory lacquer spray, (my JL's white FWIW) and respirators/eye protection/gloves I've red are indicated for use of this high gloss product.

Of course its not the only one out there, just recommended here.

The scratch resistance feature is a good point though.

Did the entire hinge have to be replaced?
