Mach, any updates from your contacts at PPG?
My PPG contact has stayed fairly quiet about this. Looks like they’re staying mum until a definitive cause has been found. Spoke with my contact today and it seems the consensus is that it is the adhesive from the hood that is seeping in to the thin clearcoat on the grille and oxidizing.

I kinda worry about ordering a white 2020, would like to know if there has been a fix too. @JeepCares , can you confirm?
I spoke with a buddy who works in vehicle paints & protectants. He said this is likely happening in all colors. It’s just the white shows the discoloration more than darker colors.

Is there anyway to effectively combat this so it doesn’t happen?

According to my friend who is an expert in the industry, it would require a change in the manufacturing process. He examined the pics of my JL and the others on this thread. Apparently the real culprit is UV rays. But the fact that one side is yellowing faster than the other shows that it is activated by heat. Essentially the engine heat (which is hotter on the drivers side due to how the engine sits in the Jeep) makes the material in the grill more susceptible to UV rays, which then yellow the paint. Would require a redesign of the paint or the grill.

My 2019 White Rubicon JLU is in the dealer now for this exact reason. They ordered a new grill unpainted and sent it out to a local shop to be primed, painted and clear coated. I should have my car back within a few days. Hopefully the local shops paint is better quality than Chrysler’s.

There is no official fix. Jeep is playing stupid like usual. My vehicle is at the dealer right now. They ordered a new grill. They outsourced to a local body shop to get primed and painted. Hopefully the local body shop uses better quality paint, primer and whatever else to do a better job than the factory because they did a terrible job and it turned yellow on my 19 Rubicon within 2 weeks.
Get JeepCares involved as they will stick with you until it is fixed properly by dealing directly with dealership... It took my dealer 2 times to fix properly... Like you they don't do their own body/paint so sent over to a shop... that shop did a sloppy job on painting fenders after keeping it for 2 weeks and i advised JeepCares who had dealership just order 2 new fenders and get those painted before calling me in to have them swapped.. 2nd time all is good and so far no issue and it has been about 2 months now... I am still working with JeepCares on the loud fan issue as dealership keeps delaying on getting a tech rep from Jeep out there to look at issue as the pcm update didn't work... I am posting these updates on a different thread...

JeepCares is already involved. I haven't seen the new grill however ill give them the benefit of the doubt until I go there to inspect my car prior to picking it up and leaving with it. My vehicle is in there for a few other issues right now too. So ill report back in a few weeks when I get it back because I'm sure it won't be correct the first time around.

Well it was only a matter of time. Mine is starting to yellow and I only have 5,000 miles. It lives most of its life in my garage and hardly ever gets parked outside. This is disappointing. I think I'll have it fixed and then consider wrapping the grill in a bright white.

I stopped at the dealer today to schedule my appointment for the V41 recall and have them look at the grille. They hadn't seen the problem before but then again, lot of people probably wouldn't notice. They were hesitant but decided to take pictures and send them in to their regional rep? Does anyone know if there is a TSB or anything out there for the yellow grille? @JeepCares do you know?

I was able to get my grille replaced under warranty. And I must say, I'm extremely impressed with the quality of the paint job by ky dealership. Although they didn't replace the plastic shroud around the grille, which is ever so slightly yellow, I'm not to worried.

Thanks @JeepCares for helping out.

My 2019 white JLUR manufactured in February 2019 has the yellowing paint issue with the grill, grill trim and front fender. The dealer acknowledges the problem but said he had never heard of it before. The dealer asked me to take the Jeep to small local body shop to determine what can be done. The body shop is concerned the parts will just turn yellow again after he repaints them. He sent me back to the dealership and they now want me to go to another body shop.

Based on this thread, Chrysler was clearly aware of this issue by February 2019 when this Jeep was manufactured and either thought they had a fix or decided to ignore the issue. It would be nice if Chrysler stepped in and provided my local dealership with any insight they now have regarding the yellowing paint.

For any JL owners who had these parts repainted, did the yellowing return over time?

Contact Jeepcares and they will help you get this resolved with your dealership... Jeepcares helped me through the whole process getting my paint fixed by dealership and so far I haven't had any issues with it fading or turning color again...
