If I’m going to spend 50k on a vehicle I’m going to follow the engineers’ recommendations on how to break it in. Same as I do on differential rebuilds. Common sense.I know this is heavily debated but I hit 300 miles this am and took my mental status out of the “break in” period. Anybody else have that mental relief?
that was my thought too. Now I feel lie I can do anything. If I’m going to spend 50k on a vehicle I’m going to follow the engineers’ recommendations on how to break it in. Same as I do on differential rebuilds. Common sense.
This is straight from the owners manual.I'm picking up my JLU 350 miles away in Houston. What are the Speed Limit recommendations for first few hundred miles? Can I go 70mph or do I need to travel slower?
This is straight from the owners manual.
Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After
the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80
or 90 km/h) are desirable
Thank you !! gonna be a slow drive back lol.I followed it. I kept it at 55 and under for the first 300. Varied the speed during that period. After the first 60 miles, I would occasionally have short bursts of WOT at speed.
Owner's manual states:
"Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After
the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80
or 90 km/h) are desirable.
While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the
limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in.
Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental
and should be avoided."
Just take back roads and enjoy the ride. I found back roads provide a good vary in speeds and doesn't get you ran over.Thank you !! gonna be a slow drive back lol.
Ya, lot of beaches from Houston down to South Padre Island (Area I live). I'll drive in and out and check some etc.Just take back roads and enjoy the ride. I found back roads provide a good vary in speeds and doesn't get you ran over.
