Hi guys, I’m new to the forums and just wanted some input. Last night I upgraded my 2011 JK Sport to the new 2018 JLU Sahara. I was super excited, and finally drove away from the dealership in it at around 10:30pm last night.
After driving a mile or so, I jumped on the highway and as soon as we hit 60 mph a loud pitched whistle rang out. At first my husband and I thought it was an alarm it was so high and loud, but we realized it wasn’t, because as we decreased the speed it would stop.
Here’s where I admit my foolishness: we test drove the same model three times at different dealerships that day, so we didn’t test drive the car I bought since we ended up at this dealership late and I felt I already knew how it drove. Obviously a rookie mistake. But none of the other Saharas I test drove made that sound, and neither did my old JK.
I texted my car salesman and he said from some of the wind gusts he experienced on his own drive home last night, he felt like it may have been the air flow over the hood and the redirected air making that noise. Keep in mind he didn’t hear the noise, he just read my description.
To me, it sounded like it was coming from the top of the windshield. Again, it was an extremely piercing, high pitched whistle that sounded like an alarm - it would be unbearable if this continues. Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t want to be a pain in the ass to the car dealer, but any suggestions on what to do or check before bugging them?
I’m kind of freaking out considering this was two minutes after I left the dealership, lol. Thanks in advance for any insight into this issue, and I’m excited to be a part of this community!
