They (Jeep) are working on it. I'm early in the process, but they are interested.
DanW, What was your experience with the service department? What is the process you are experiencing?

I just learned that, because I installed the lift myself, I must pay labor for the dealership to look at my bowed spring.

JeepCares reached out to me, so I sent them info and pictures. They have shared the pictures with the appropriate people. They need me to have my dealer's service department look at it in person to verify proper installation. They will then go from there in determining if there is a problem, and if so, finding and applying a solution.

One more thing...my dealer's service department installed mine. They are very good, so I trust it was installed correctly and that they'll do a good job of assessing it.

Ahhh. Thanks. Same here. Except I'll be paying for the inspection because I didn't have the dealership install it.

We know there had been a lot of conversation surrounding the Mopar 2” lift kit and wanted to provide follow up.

A slight bowing of the front springs is intentional and designed to provide maximum performance. You can see a purposeful “bow” outward in the front springs when looking at a correctly installed 2” lift kit at rest. The JPP 2” lift kit is a true suspension lift which increases ground clearance and suspension articulation. The bow allows the spring to compress in a controlled manner during extreme articulation to maintain proper clearance.

Improper installation of the front springs or upper isolators can cause the springs to bow more than intended and possibly cause contact to occur on the bump stop. Installation of the front springs and upper isolators, while not difficult, MUST be done correctly to ensure proper spring alignment. Mopar has enhanced the instruction sheet in order to clarify direction on the installation process. This installation sheet is attached below.

@JeepCares unfortunately, you are wrong. There is no viable reason for the "additional" bow on the driver's side. It has nothing to do with installation and everything to do with a failed design of the spring base on the driver's side. I can accept that explanation for the passenger side...

It's sad that your competitors are the ones that will be fixing your mistake.

I just learned that, because I installed the lift myself, I must pay labor for the dealership to look at my bowed spring.
I had it installed at my dealership (I bought it from Quadratec), so they looked at it for free. The tech who did the install went over it to make sure the springs were correctly installed and seated, which they were. They then sent a bunch of photos to Jeep. They deemed it safe and let me have it back. At the moment, they've indicated it is fine, but they also said they'd let me know when/if a fix comes. It drives perfectly and I did a day of off-roading where many times I disconnected the swaybar and fully flexed the Jeep. I gave it a good workout. No issues. I still feel the spring is too close to the bump stop for comfort, but there is no rubbing, whether fully stretched out or fully compressed. If Jeep doesn't come up with something, I'm just going to order the Rock Krawler bases and install them and be done with it. As for now, it drives/handles just fine. If someone hadn't originally pointed out the bow, to this day I wouldn't likely know it was an issue. I doubt I would have discovered it.

I will also say this. I've looked at every JK I could find with a spring lift, and I see lots of them with bowing, especially the 3 inch and higher lifts. It doesn't look as bowed as mine, but the bowing IS common, and to some extent, I have become convinced some bowing IS normal. Too many JK's with various lifts have some bowing. Look around and see.

I'd pay the $30 to RK and be done with it...

The rendered line drawing of the installed springs being bowed is fantastic.

I think you're right that some bowing is normal, but I don't like how the drivers's side seems to show much more bowing than the passenger side in most of the posted pics.

I think I'm just going to wait for that Teraflex kit that has the 3-setting adjustable shocks anyhow.

If they actually looked like that it might be fine. But what is actually happening in the real world is the passenger side looks like that and the driver's side is drastically more bowed.

I too am curious about other mfg's lift kits...

Oh, I'm sure they are. I've already wheeled my Jeep with this lift a couple times and I haven't had any issues, but notice how this is a revised instruction sheet that was created after people started complaining about the bow. My instructions didn't mention the spring bow at all.
