Are these decent shocks for our JLU? Any other suggestions for a similar price (around $400 for the set)

Bilstiens are typically a little on the firm side but excellent shocks. 5100's are for lifted vehicles, longer than stock. The yellow 4600's are for stock height.

I just bought a full set of 5100's for my JLUR, once I get some time under them, I will report back.

I have the 5100's that come with the AEV lift and I think they are great shocks. The ride is great on and off road. Debating about upgrading to the 8100's. I think the 5100's are one of the best shocks for the money. Im on my second set on my Duramax.

No, I had the TeraFlex 1.5" spacer lift installed with the Bilstein 5100's, I chose the 2" to 3" lift length shocks.

Any update on these shocks? How do you like them? Did they improve the ride on the road?

They rode a bit stiff for me, but not too bad. I ended up finding a good deal on a set of Mopar fox shocks and those rode much better for my use case though, otherwise I would still be rocking the 5100's.

A bit stiff as in jarring on road? I'm mainly interested in taming that side to side head shaking body roll. I prefer slightly springy suspension that rebounds quickly like a sports car, as long as it's not harsh.

I would not consider it Jarring, but slightly stiff instead. These shocks did well when it came to taming body roll in my opinion.

I have used them on a 2014 Sierra, 2018 Silverado, and 2011 Yukon. They are great shocks for the price, being firm, controlled ride but not harsh. All were stock height. I will consider when it is time to replace shocks on my 2022 Jeep Willys.
